Re: US open tennis
He’s played a lot of tennis this year.
He’ll be back.

Re: US open tennis
Yes, I’d still be surprised if Djokovic doesn’t win at least a couple of Grand Slam events next year. The US is always the most unpredictable, probably due to it being end of season when everyone is tired/injured etc. Since 2006, six US Opens have gone outside the big three, compared to two Wimbledons (both Murray) and one each for Aussie and French (both Wawrinka).
Medvedev is only the second man born in the 90s to win a big one though, and the first to do so by beating one of the big guns in the final, so it is a symbolic moment to an extent. There will be more belief among the pack, even if we’re a long way from the randomness of the women’s game at present.

Kyrgios beats Medvedev and Rafa loses in R4. Very open now. Kyrgios is actually now favourite.

Re: US open tennis
Always the most unpredictable one at the end of the season it seems, and a big chance for a new name to make a statement (before Djokovic and Nadal come back to dominate for another three years or so…)

Kyrgios out then. Surprising that Biden let the Russians in…

Re: US open tennis
Rather have him win it than a Putin patsy. Hope one of the decent youngsters like Alcaraz, Ruud or Tiafoe lands it.
With reference to Ruud, Norway’s starting to have a bit of a golden era of sports stars. Haaland, Ingebrigtsen, Warholm etc… not forgetting Magnus Carlsen of course!

Sinner fails to escape from Alcaraz.
Was close though - had a match point on serve.

Re: US open tennis
Djokovic equals the gender-neutral Slams record with 24… you sense he has a few more in him, despite the rise of Alcaraz. Just needs a few more of the younger lot to step up to that level… still, we’ve been saying that for a decade!

A slightly dated reference that some of our younger viewers may not understand.
