Is it just me being a bitter bastard, or would it be poetic justice if this injury turned out to be career ending . . . ?

Not bitter at all tac. Poetic justice indeed. I note LP was "calling" Harby on the SAf v Ind thread last night.

Big style. Absolutely massive chucks that you could see through the long sleeves. Chuck. Chuck. Chuck. Got totally ignored at the time, well done for seeing it.

Yeah mate, it's farkin galling seeing this factory line of grade A pingers coming out of the sub-continent. Some Aussies (and others) reckon T20 is not cricket. Allowing 15 degree-plussers get unfair advantage is what's not cricket.

As Hugo Agogo's mortal nemesis says, LuckyPierre was his handle (amongst others) at the previous joint.

I just hate it that the ones who do remedial work still come back chucking (Shabbir, Bhajji, Kirtley). Probably Botha will too. And that the biggest chucker doesn't even have to do remedial work.

Meh, I rest easy in the knowledge that it will be as tainted a world record as Ben Johnson's (which only stood for a day or so) or Lance Armstrong's

Yeah, statistically it's there though. Still, bit like Tony Lock I suppose, you think 'good bowler' and suddenly 'chucker' pops into your mind.

I wonder what people in 50 years will think when they see footage of the man with the unbreakable 1000 Test wicket record? I saw footage of Meckiff recently and thought "fark, that's not as bad as Chuck".

Was anybody? I've seen Lock a few times and can't tell a great deal that he's got a boomerang elbow. Whereas, whatever experts say about the whole 'can't tell a bowler is chucking', you can see the man chuck - a distinct difference between his offie and doosra. If I were batting against him, I'd definitely look at his arm just before release.

Of course you can tell. Botha was also so obvious at the SCG.

I have always proposed that all opposition bowlers shoud blatantly ping it when playing against a SL team with chuck in it. People would get the message pretty soon.

Yeah, it wouldn't be a bad idea actually. Though it may be hard to pull off, you'd need either India or Pakistan to do it or the ICC would probably come down hard.

I remember Australia played in a tourney with India in Holland before one of those ICC Trophy thingys a few years ago...Barry Richards was commentating the game, and there was a bit of a break in play and they showed some local expat Indians in the crowd...one kiddie in a turban playing cricket with his mates on the hill...Richards commented 'he's gonna be the new Harby'...then the kiddie runs up and full on chucks the ball...Richards pisses himself laughing and manages to splutter out 'he IS Harby'...

The worst thing is is that there are up and coming youngsters playing league cricket here in the UK who ping the crap out of a 'doosra'......

Its embarrassing.

Good idea that, imagine Monty rocking up first ball and baseball pitching a monster doosra to Kumar.... Spins square the wrong way, pitches leg, hits off, cleaned bowled. The uproar would be tremendous.
