Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/19/colin.powell/index.html
This is somewhat embarrasing for the Republicans considering that Powell was Secretary of State for the Bush administration until as recently as 3 years ago. Obama must surely win this now, although i'm still worried that there might be an evil, McCain campaign created cruel twist right at the last minute of the campaign that floors Obama.

At a stroke, McCain's contention that Obama is not fit to be C-in-C is holed below the waterline.

Won't make any difference. "Real" America will buy into all the negative crap the McCain camp is throwing at Obama the terrorist's pal and vote for the guy that they know is "one of them".
Powell will be dismissed as a darkie sticking to his own.
It's like the Bush/Kerry election last time out. Kerry trounced Bush in the debates, set out all number of detailed policies and ideas he'd implement as President, but Bush won easily on the back of a campaign that didn't address any issues other than question Kerry's patriotism and all-round American-ness.
The truth is, negative campaigning works like a dream in America. There's no value to fighting clean, other than to lose with a superior sense of righteousness.
McCain to win by a nose (and possibly a dodgy recount in Florida).

Re: Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama
I didn't think the 2004 election was won easily by Bush. It came down to a couple of thousand votes in Ohio with 20 electoral votes.
And Powell was always thought to be uneasy over Bush' 'war on terror' strategy. I love McCain trumpeting the fact he has the endorsement of Kissinger, Eagleburger and Haig.

No. John Kerry lost because he was boring. For all of his sensible policies, he had the charisma of a garden snail.

It'll be Obama this time methinks. Obama ain't Kerry as Henry said. And his grassroots organization is something else this time round.

That seven minutes made me wish his wife didn't beseach him not to run(though her reasons were probably pretty good from a personal point of view) for President.
I don't think he's bucking for a job but I'd feel a lot better if he was somewhere inside.

Note McCain's support world wide seems to come from Latin and Central American countries.

What? Have I missed something, is GWB charismatic? To me, his only 'schtick' is "Look at me, I'm a bumbling f*ckwit of clownesque proportions and know f*ck all about f*ck all outside my own state. And not too much about that."
Re: Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama
Apparently GWB tells a good joke though.
And he likes baseball.
For most Americans, that's like having your best mate as Prez.

No, Bush is not charismatic. He would legally be declared a vegetable in most other countries. But Kerry really was a bore. His voice, his face......It was all so dreary.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama
FFS. The only thing the McCain campaign is now doing is trying to tell everyone how bad Obama is, rather than telling everyone what their own policies actually are. Surely even the dumb as f*ck American middle class can see that the Republicans are a desperate bunch of c*nts who are trying to hide the fact that their policies on everything are shit, their Presidential Candidate is an angry old man, their Vice Presidential candidate is a thick as two short planks former beauty Queen who FFS (And God help us all if it happens) could more than likely be President at some point considering McCain is a 72 year old skin cancer sufferer.
Oh yeah.... And their hardcore supporters base are a group of racist rednecks who are scared of Obama because they think he's an Arab who will somehow blow up the whole country if President. Oh dear. It's so backward that you wonder how they manage to put one foot in front of the other to walk, let alone be the world's dominant superpower (Although China is arguably more powerful these days.....Lets see how well the world and the USA runs if China goes down the gurgler)
What c*nts. Ban America. If McCain is voted in, I wish the people of the USA nothing but mental and physical pain and extreme economic misery, because they will deserve nothing else.
Slightly drunken rant over.

Worked very well in the Bush/Dukakis election and it's been the staple tactic ever since. They're worse than the Taliban.
