Test series timing and trophy ownership
Australia is expected to come back to the pack a bit in the coming years.
For some time it has been the habit for the Aust v RSA series to immediately be followed by the RSA v Aust series. In terms of trophy possession, this gives the Jaapies an obvious advantage, in that for nearly the whole time, the most recent series will have been South Africa's home series.
Similar comments hold with regard to Australia v India, though at least in that case there is a gap of about a year between the Australian home series and that in India.
Bragging rights have traditionally been pretty important in Test cricket. From this angle it would appear to be fairer to have the series evenly spaced through the cycle. e.g. Aust v RSA now, RSA v Aust in two years' time. etc

Aye, 6 Tests back to back every 4 years is pretty gay.

Seems strange that Aus are going back to South Africa (Where they last toured in March 06) before they tour NZ (Last toured in Feb 05) and Sri Lanka (Last toured in March 04) again.
