Hooray for that. It's only because the Pakistan tour was cancelled, but credit where credit is due- The BCCI requested more TEST cricket, so good on them.

Re: Snoozers agree to BCCI demands . . .
So who was it that wanted the I v E series to be only two tests? ECB or BCCI?
I heartily approve of the 3 test series between the SPPs and the munchers. It's been a long time since they played a test series, and a much longer time since they played a series longer than 2 tests.

What's the CT?
BTW, India hasn't won a series in NZ for 31 years. Good opportunity to rectify that.

31 years...banindia's away record has been truly dreadful...if they do not sweep the poor snoozies (who are in dreadful shape) banindia will continue to be seen as an international lightweight.

Knowing 1/ the weather and 2/ the nature of the two teams, a 0-0 draw isn't completely off the cards.

ECB had asked for a third test waiver for Christmas and BCCI agreed. It wasn't BCCI that settled for a 2 test deal on their own.
India would do well to have a 3 test series in NZ since the test team won't be getting sufficient acclimatization time and there can be no comeback should they lose the first test in a 2 test farce.
You should be happy BCCI is pushing for more tests at all.

I am happy we will have at least 3 tests. Last time we had 3 tests against the Kiwis was in 2000 at home which ended in a farce with all pitches being bald belters. Also it's been 4 years now since any test cricket happened between the 2 sides, the last in India ending in a 0-0 draw. India has not won any series against the Kiwis in 9 years now and are trailing so good time to rectify that.

Also Tac I noticed that the Aussies are now playing regular sides like NZ for a 2 test series at home. Instead of worrying about India asking for more tests, you should be worried about Aussies playing lesser tests...

Mate, we play plenty of test cricket . . . my point is that the BCCI hardly bent over backwards to accomodate a 3rd test v the poms . . . but have squeezed the Kiwis for a third test as it suits them.
Extra test cricket is good . . . hypocrisy is bad.
Still a 2-test series between cricketing power houses like what England are and India hope to be . . . is just silly, even sillier when the BCCI are able to squeeze in a 3rd test v a minnow.

I agree. CA should have enough respect for The Traditional Form to demand a three test series.

dont you play two teams in a summer except for the ashes? 6 tests in a summer should be the minimum. last two years lanka and nz have played 2-test series in oz

"When was the last time we didn't play at least 5 Tests in Oz in an Oz summer?"
India played six matches in India this season.
We can't really fault _either_ team for the _total_ amount of test cricket they play, but if we are going to criticise India for hosting a two-match test series, we should similarly criticise CA for doing the same. Two-match test series are lame.
