Re: Australia
Why such surprise at the mediocre acting etc? It's just a 'chick flick', moderately pleasant to look at. As is NK.

Re: Australia
I've appreciated a few Aussie films in my time. Sirens probably the most. All the birds are fit and they all get their kit off. Phucking wicked.

As did Tara Fitzgerald.
Of the Sirens, one is an internatonal modelling legend (Elle MacPherson); one (Kate Fisher) was a one time fiance of Australia's one time richest men and is the daughter of the former Prime Minister, John Howards one time mistress; and the third (Portia De Rossi) is now Ellen de Generes' legal spouse.

Aye. Good times. Very good times.
Couldn't believe my eyes when I was watching it.
Shame in a way, I like historical dramas, especially of somewhere like Australia which holds my intrigue from time to time. That just turned into a consistant wankfest.
My actual favourite Aussie film (if you don't include Mad Max 1 & 2) is Chopper. Phucking awesome film, Eric Bana is quality.
Re: Australia
Aye Chopper is terrific. He is even better in real life.
Mad Max 1 & 2 are movie icons - they are sort of the AC/DC of the Australian film industry.

Read about him a bit, seems like he'd be a character. As I say, Bana was awesome.
MM2 is probs in my top 5 films ever. Spawned so many similar ideas too. Iconic to say the least.

Phuck yeah dorrie - it's sweet as (for a mainstream film).
Re: Australia
I've just had a quick (unsuccesful) search for an interview the Reid did on live TV for a chat show back in the early 90s where he was totally pissed.
It was farking hilarious. The show was cancelled soon after.

Re: Australia
I never got Mad Max - bored me stupid.
Rather have pretty much anything Peter Weir has done, and a couple I remember from an antipodean season on BBC2 years back: 'The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith' and 'Breaker Morant'. Never seen either since..
There was another good one about sheep shearers, but I can't remember what that was called.

If you care to rent the "Chopper" DVD the special features are as good as the movie itself. One section has the director and Bana having a "chat" with "chop chop" prior to the film being made. Reid also does a voice over whilst the movie is playing. An informative narrative.
