Younis Khan the new captain
...will lead PAK in the upcoming series against Lanka...
good choice but will an honest cricketer like Younis Khan be able to survive in the corrupt environment?

A good man and an excellent choice, but as you say I fear for him and his dealings with the PCB.
Watch this space IMO.

He should be used to tough gigs, after all he's been playing for South Australia. Which would suck. I mean, having to live in Adelaide, and put up with mediocrity all around as your team mates...

Miandad
Wasim
waqar
Amir Sohail
Saeed Anwar
Salim Malik
moin khan
rashid latif
S malik
Inzamam
younis
yousuf(NOT a regular captain)
Rameez raja
...may have missed a few there....
Ideally it should have ONLY been Wasim Akram from 1993 to 2003 world cup as he was a natural leader and despite all the nonsense around him(some of it created BY him) team's record under his captaincy was quite solid(66 wins and 41 defeats)

Re: Younis Khan the new captain
I hope he has lots of success.
Younis seems like one one of the nicest crickters out there and wears his heart on his sleeve every time he plays.
Moreover, he's had some real tragedies to deal with in life (I think he lost his father, two brothers in a car crash plus amurdered dead coach all in the space of 2 years) yet still has a beaming smile everytime he plays the game.
I just hope the pcb and his collegues give him the support he needs.
Feel a bit sorry for Malik though, he took the job under tough circumstances post world cup and never really had the support of his teammates (look how the jealous and bitter moyo treated him and it was reported afridi didnt get on with him). And he faced two of his best bowlers being banned for performance enhancing drug abuse.

fair post Rey.
I like this current combo of YK, I Alam and A Qadir.
They may NOT be succesful because they will still have to deal with a lot of idioticy and YK/ AQ can go off track at times but all 3 of these men are known for their honesty.

Re: Younis Khan the new captain
Intikhabâ€s report sealed Malik fate
- Former captain expected to keep place in team
LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI
Calcutta: Coach Intikhab Alamâ€s damning report after the just-ended ODI series against Sri Lanka made the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ask Shoaib Malik to step down immediately as captain or be sacked.
That was on Tuesday.
Malik, inarguably Pakistanâ€s most listless captain, obliged and has been replaced by Younis Khan, whoâ€d been the first choice for the job after the 2007 World Cup debacle.
“Intikhab was more than merely candid in his report to the PCB chairman (Ejaz Butt) and made it clear that a change had to be effected if the teamâ€s decline was to be arrested… That it couldnâ€t be delayed,†a well-placed source told The Telegraph from Lahore.
The source added: “Intikhab is understood to have highlighted three factors: That Malik wasnâ€t commanding respect in the dressing room, that the seniors in particular were very cut up with him and that he wasnâ€t sharp when it came to working out and then executing strategy.â€
Basically that Malik, who started his innings in May 2007, just wasnâ€t captaincy material.
Manager Yawar Saeed, it seems, didnâ€t have anything positive to say in his report either.
Both Intikhab and Saeed are old hands, but had been off the circuit for some years till Butt brought them back a few months ago.
Apparently, and this is shocking, Malik wasnâ€t even on talking terms with some of his players and the poor team spirit led to Pakistan being whipped by 234 runs in the final ODI, at the Gaddafi in Lahore, last Saturday.
Mahela Jayawardene and his men won the series 2-1.
According to another well-placed source, this one based in Karachi, the PCB chairman, Intikhab and chief selector Abdul Qadir had a “detailed†discussion with Younis before leaving Malik with no choice.
“Younis has been known to blow hot and cold on the captaincy issue and, so, Butt and the others got his consent for the job before asking Malik to resign,†the source pointed out.
The new captain, one learns, has given an undertaking that his cricket-related behaviour would henceforth not be dictated by emotions.
One expects the 31-year-old Pathan, an outstanding middle-order bat, to keep his word.
Besides the drama after the last World Cup, Younis had been a reluctant stand-in captain after The Oval Test fiasco, in late 2006. More recently, 13 months ago, heâ€d been reluctant to stand in for Malik in the Bangalore Test.
The first challenge for Younis, who has already captained Pakistan four times in Tests (one win) and in six ODIs (two victories), would be next monthâ€s Test series at home against Sri Lanka.
Malik, one gathers, should keep his place as a player. The same, though, canâ€t really be said of one-time spearhead Shoaib Akhtar.
Shoaibâ€s known to spring surprises, but the odds against him are massive at this point in time.
As Younis and the rest havenâ€t played Test cricket for all of 13 months, the PCB is planning two five-day practice matches — in Karachi and in Lahore.
