Bob Woolmer
So did we ever find out- Was he killed? Did he die of natural causes? Did he kill himself? There never really seemed to be a definitive answer.

Natural cause is the assumption since murder was ruled out.

Re: Bob Woolmer
The 11 man jury in Jamaica gave an open verdict - so yes it couldnt be proven either way if his death was accidental or something more sinister.

Re: Bob Woolmer
The verdict meant the 11-man jury was unable to decide if Mr Woolmer's death was an accident, murder or the result of natural causes

I've always been suspicious too - several "definite" conclusions that were not consistent with each other at all...

Re: Bob Woolmer
I'd say the people who believe Bob Woolmer died of natural causes are very few in number.
The histroy books might say the cause of death was "inconclusive" but they'll also mention that "murder" was an odds-on favourite.

God bless his soul
very nice man, he would even answer my stupid question
I remember once i said something along the lines of " Bob what the heck are doing by opening the batting with Shoaib Malik?"
literally 2 days later Malik scored a match saving ton while opening the batting in SL...i just didn't bother to read the reply.

Why do some Paksters think Gatting is a racist but not Woolmer? The latter went on a rebel tour to SA too.

They're worried they may yet be accused of helping Woolmer across the Great Divide, perhaps?

they both made a big mistake by going on the rebel tour but that doesn't automatically turn them in to racists...
greedy yes racist Not so sure.
I was very surprised to hear that Boycott went as well.

Re: Bob Woolmer
Not to mention a veritable swarm of West Indian players, none of whom could be called racists. Short-sighted, perhaps, and ultimately (sadly) self-destructive (in their cases); but not racist.
People do stupid things for large lump sums of money.

Rowe, Kalli and Croft were the main Windians to go as I recall.
Which Aussies went? Hughes, Alderman, Rackemann (sp??) , Maguire? That was a lot of bowling firepower lost.

Re: Bob Woolmer
Yes. The 1985 tour hurt us far more than the WSC split.
Mick Taylor and Rod McCurdy would have played Test cricket, and maybe Haysman too. Losing Alderman alone, just before an England tour, was disastrous.

yeah but ICL/IPL isn't as serious a matter as those rebel tours.

Re: Bob Woolmer
We in South Africa were grateful for those tours. We'd done what the politicians and sporting bodies of the world had asked us to do - integrate sport - and recognition of that came only via rebel tours, not from the politicians or sporting bodies.
