FORMER cricketing great Allan Border can find no place for Blues stars Phil Jaques and Stuart MacGill in the Australian team for the first Test of the summer.

Border feels Australia's best first Test team against Sri Lanka for the pace-friendly Gabba next month would include blossoming paceman Mitchell Johnson and Shaun Tait ahead of controversial slow bowler MacGill, with Mike Hussey reinstated as an opener.

MacGill performed soundly on the recent Australia A tour of Pakistan but struggled physically and mentally and was fined after one of his sadly familiar temper tantrums in the second four-dayer against Pakistan A in Lahore.

Cricket Australia has had a complete bellyful of MacGill, but he is expected to be in Australia's first Test 12.
