Re: 2009 Shield Final thread: Vile Vixen v Buggered Billies
I suppose in theory Symonds might have bashed 250 in two sessions, with some support, and Queensland might then have bowled Victoria out for 80.
This way is more ruthless but less interesting.
I'm beginning to wonder if anyone will ever enforce the follow-on again.

They'r qunts. The Shield is set up to reward qunts. (pre 1995)
For the first fifty years only three teams played it and one of those was a tent city on a shithouse river.
Actually one of the others was built on a shithouse river too, but at least it gave a shithouse state built on a magnificent harbour some early bragging rights.

Mrs Hodge insisted.peterg wrote:Why on earth bat again. They could not lose imposing the follow on, there's not enough time. But they could have the satisfaction of actually winning, which is more remote this way.

Ah well, Love got his 10000th Shield run. Some good news.
And Watson got dismissed off the seventh ball of the over. Ha ha.

Monster nonsense. His intestinal fortitude in dealing with this latest minor setback makes him a nailed-on cert for the Ashes.
It's real men you want out there. By rights, Watto should be one of the first on the teamsheet.

So this will be the third final the vomits have made this year and have failed to win any of them.

Is there a bowl-off? Coin toss? Or nearest impression of the Chippendales wins?

Vomits had the most points during the year and therefore get home ground advantage and only need to draw the Final to claim the Shield ...which leads to scores of 900 and 500+ in first innings of Shield finals by home teams

There was no final up until about 1982/83 ...most points during the year won the Shield
Cant remember any specific reason they changed it ... but there have been a couple of classic finals ...and some borefests too

No doubt changed it for the extra payday (or sense of occasion, as it was probably put).

Re: 2009 Shield Final thread: Vile Vixen v Buggered Billies
the vomits had a good season but they have TAYPODGE and ShyT in their team so they deserve nothing ...this is counteracted by the fact they are coached by a wozzie and their two best batsman are wozzies ...
Sozzies ...CA's International scheduling that sees National players playing ZERO State cricket is a bonus for the Sozzies as they have no one good enough to be on International duties (except T20 Tait and he strengthens their Shield team when he is missing)
