Well spotted, JGK.
Hossain seems to have rebounded a bit from that setback.

Didn't watch the Wanderers test then?

Agree about the dropped chances, he did appear to have a little bit of extra luck but his bowling will be underutilised because of his back problems. Any sort of stint at the bowling crease results in pain and stiffness the next day according to him. So it's not just a matter of Punter being prepared to ask him to bowl.

I did watch the Wanderers but there were lots of empty seats, I was talking more in terms of the stadium looking close to capacity. And the Cape Town crowd generated a lot more noise. Apparently at Joburg they got a few days round about 20,000 and in Cape Town only 15,000 which says a lot about the capacities of stadia in SA. No wonder Australia doesn't want to forfeit its Christmas and New Year tests.taipan wrote:lardbucket wrote:taipan lampooning Red by quoting incorrectly ...

Katich and Hussey attracted a lot of criticism yesterday for their pedestrian progress and in some ways it was justified. Maybe though they were trying to keep their wickets intact and would then feel in against a tiring attack. It didn't work for them but it would appear that McDonald and Johnson certainly profited as the bowlers seemed a bit knackered from the many overs they bowled, the heat and the pressure of bowling on a flat track.
I hope those factors which have probably flattered McDonald's batting don't influence his Ashes selection.

No you silly cow, you clearly stated biggest.
Yeah and the Joburg test was played over a working Thursday and Friday over a financial year end.
Please try and compare apples and oranges.

According to the radio commentators the Cape Town test was also played over a working Thursday and Friday.
Are you always this consistently abusive? Surely 'intelligent' people can make their point without invariably having to resort to derogatory labels.

Yes and the crowds were fairly small on those days.
Well if you could once admit that there was the faintest possibility that you have ever been wrong.
Anyway I think I am more polite to you than your Aussie mates.

Well I admit the wording might have been ambiguous but I genuinely meant a SA crowd which looked close to full house at a test match. I've seen them full at ODIs and T20s.
And the crowd at Cape Town on the Friday (around about 10,000), still looked fuller than it did in Joburg. It may have something to do with the notion that the cameramen seemed to focus more on the grassed areas which always seemed to be very well populated, rather than on the more sparsely occupied stands.

Wanderers was pretty full on the Sat and Sun. And prob had more spectators over the 5 days than most of the Aussie tests this summer.

That may well be the sagest thing you have ever said Red.

Not enough though to dislodge our premier venues - Melbourne and Sydney, from their treasured spots in our sporting calendar.

you have to admire that young spiv chap - skullywag - he is the only spiv on record capable of blushing when realising and admitting an error...a jellyback grandparent perhaps?....or is it simply the honest Irish genes shining through?
