Further to today’s hearing at the Perth Magistrates Court, the Western Australian Cricket Association wishes to advise of the following penalties that have been applied to Luke Pomersbach:

i. Subject to point (vii) below, Luke will be banned from representing WA in any form of cricket until the conclusion of the 2010-11 season.
ii. Luke will be fined the sum of $10,000, of which $5,000 may be suspended subject to point (viii) below.
iii. Luke has been suspended immediately from all forms of participatory training with the State squad until further notice, which will not be earlier than 1 October 2009.
iv. Until then, he will train under the supervision of a person nominated by the State Coach and will remain eligible to play for Gosnells in the 2009-10 WACA District competition.
v. If invited by the WACA subsequent to 1 October 2009 to resume training with the State squad, Luke will do so to his maximum capacity.
vi. Luke must attend all medical and counselling sessions as required by the WACA, and strictly adhere to the terms of his playing contract.
vii. Luke will be continually monitored by the WACA and its advisers and if the WACA is completely satisfied that condition (vi) has been met by Luke, he may be eligible to play State cricket from 1 January 2010 upon favourable evaluation, in which event the balance of the ban shall be suspended for 12 months pending continued compliance with such conditions as the WACA determines shall continue to apply.
viii. If the player receives a favourable evaluation under point (vii), the remaining $5,000 fine will also be suspended until the conclusion of the 2010-11 season.

The above penalties have been set in consultation with Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association, and have been agreed to by Luke and his management.

The WACA remains committed to Luke’s wellbeing and will give him all of its support in the hope that he can resume his State career, however given the seriousness of this incident the onus will be on Luke to rebuild his career.

How much would that job pay? Following a party boy around on a 24-7 basis.
