England in Bangladesh 2010 (Key Players to miss out)
England are set to send a weakened squad to Bangladesh for their tour early next year after Hugh Morris, the managing director of England cricket, confirmed the board would manage the workload of senior players during another packed year.
Harsh as fark to call replacements 'weak'. Should be interesting to see who they take instead.
Possible candidates to sit out the Bangladesh trip could include Andrew Strauss, Paul Collingwood, Stuart Broad and James Anderson. However, if Strauss was to rest, it would require new captains for the Test and one-day teams. Alastair Cook, the Test vice-captain, would be the likely choice in the longer format, but the one-day position is less clear, especially if Collingwood is also rested.

Also, the article discusses Freddy returning for the ODI series there, before the Test Series.

Shah won't play another Test. Bell's a certainty (unfortunately), haven't a clue who's next in line as an opener though.
Only two seamers is a bit dodgy, especially if they are inexperienced ones and they don't even have Colly as backup. I expect Onions will be there, Bresnan perhaps (they like him as he can bat a bit, even though he hasn't looked too threatening with the ball at this level), Sidebottom if they still think he's got it.
We really shouldn't be playing Tests with weakened sides though. Play a full strength team or stand up to the ICC and refuse to make the tour.

I don't like the term 'weakened'.
Doesn't bode well for any player who replaces Jammy or Broad.
Could give Woakes a go. Throw him in at the deep end (sub-continental conditions). Harris would be nice, but highly doubtful.
Onions should be penned in.

Will we send a C/D squad like the Windies and get trounced?

We'll get F'd in the A. Mark my words. In the F'in A.
Re: England in Bangladesh 2010 (Key Players to miss out)
Aye, total joke. 'Rest' players FFS - almost makes you want the Bangles to win just for them being a bunch of qunts.
Are the Bangles after the SA tour. So in all probability given rankings we'll have lost that series and we'll want to rest players from the next series? FFS....

I didn't realise they were being rested from the tests as well. I thought it was just the ODI's? FFS, like JKL said, we deserved to get rolled by the Bangers with their endless army of little left arm spinners with slightly dodgy actions if we send a weakened test team to face them. They nearly beat a full strength Aus side at home 3 years ago.
You just know it's gonna go bad and the ECB will be left with egg all over its face again.

Hopefully Suhrawadi Shuvo plays for the Banglas by then. He's a bit of a Shakib.

Re: England in Bangladesh 2010 (Key Players to miss out)
Michael Vaughan has called for England to rest Andrew Strauss for next year's tour of Bangladesh to ensure against burn-out before another packed home season. Vaughan said cricket's administrators should "look at playing a little bit less, and making the product that much better" in order to ease the workload on players.
clicky.
Apparently Strauss needs a 'time-out'.
"This needs to be addressed now. Andrew Strauss should be rested for that trip, as should Paul Collingwood, as should Jimmy Anderson," he told the Guardian. "They should announce it now because until they do, if the South Africa series goes wrong, then I guarantee that Strauss, Anderson, Collingwood will end up going to Bangladesh. I know what will happen. I've been in the job and I know what happens with the England selectors and I know what happens with the England team."

I like the idea of James Anderson being rested. Mick obviously know's how effective Jimmy is on the sub-continent.

Depends which bit you mean smerky. Aye, his 2 games in S/L were a disaster at 125 each, and he's never played in Pak or Bangla.
In india, he's very effective according to the stats forms. He averages 29.3, which is less than several supposedly better bowlers.

Plunkett would be Jimmy's automatic replacement for the tour.

Shits all over your boyf Harris from a huge height.
Re: England in Bangladesh 2010 (Key Players to miss out)
Plunkett already has text experience, its a given that he gets selected.
We'll see how he goes though....won't we...

Assuming Jimmy gives Bangladesh a miss, I wouldn't mind Steve Finn being given a chance. If there's any thought that he might make the Ashes tour, he has to be blooded sooner rather than later.

Hmmm, Div 2 bowler, not really much else to his game is there?
Chris Woakes has been taking Div 1 wickets - and he can bat I tells ya!

Well yeah. We will. Can't see people's problem with his selection personally. Most people haven't even seen the f*cker since his ill-fated foray into Test cricket, yet they're so snide about his capabilities all the same.

Mmm-hmmm. I was particularly pleased how he fared against Odin, Zeus and Niranjan. Almighty trio, that. Run of the mill though, I suppose, in the context of **gasps in awe** DIVISION ONE!
How you can be that age and bowl that slowly, I just don't know. Still, I have obviously missed what 'everybody' else sees. Ashley Giles sees 'Warks', many punters see 'oh wow hype hype hype'. I personally see some dobber who bowls slower than MS Dhoni and is a typical "I'll exploit early English conditions" type.
Re: England in Bangladesh 2010 (Key Players to miss out)
Well, quite possibly.
But he can bat!!!!
