Re: 2010/11 Ashes dates
Unfortunately this schedule means the one-dayers will be played after the Tests.
A better schedule would be
December 15 - 19 @ Brisbane
December 26 - 30 @ Melbourne
January 5 - 9 @ Sydney
January 18 -22 @ Perth
January 26 - 30 @ Adelaide
Personally I'd like to spread it out over a longer timeframe than that but I understand that might be asking for too much in this day and age.

No surprises really, obviously the request for a sixth test was turned down by the ECB...

Total waste of time having the one dayers and/or T20s after the tests.
Noone gives a flying fark about them then. At least if they precede them they act as an hors d'œuvre.

There wasn't.
It was just merlin in a "I'm a pea-brained 'never wrong' needle-dick" shocker.
Sherbert.
Oh dear ... can't resist lapsing into your jizz-flowered prose can you Monkeh ...
Perhaps you know no other way .... poor bugger ...
Anyway, to explain in small syllables ...there was speculation at the time before the tour began that tgm's recurring knee problems might keep him out of the first 2 tests. As for TGM, the rumours around him were always rife - and, there was a buzz of an impending announcement involving BOTH players and their futures.
So, my personal take on the series was that one or both would not play in every test, and based on this assumption, I called it 3 -1 England.
Are you with me jizz-queen ...?
Anyway, McGrath's knees got sorted, Warne had his mobile confiscated and the retirement announcements were finally made early series - ie., on the 23 December 2006, but that they would both only retire AFTER the series ended! By this time England were already under the cosh ...
So to summarize - I (I repeat I, my little Brasso-chookie) I cocked it when I (I repeat I) made my 3-1 England win Ashes prediction fpr '06/'07.
Though WhyTF you have a bee deep up your jacksie about the issue beats the hell out of me ...
Be of good cheer Monkeh ...

Not overly happy about the Perth dates, again. Firstly, it's the start of school holidays which makes it hard to go to all five days (even though we manage) and secondly, it's hard to take a big chunk out of your life so close to Christmas (speaking from a mother's perspective here ).
Anyway, as much as I like a test series which hangs in the balance all the way through, I'm hoping we go into the Perth test with a 2-0 lead - the atmosphere last time was incredible.
In regards to 2005, I had predicted that the series would go down to the wire, with Australia losing the Ashes. I had watched England's previous at-home and away test series' (2003 v South Africa was one of the best test series I've ever watched) and I thought they were a lot better than our team, or media, had given them credit for.
I didn't think we were going to lose in 2009, yet strangely enough, that result didn't hurt as much as it did in 05.

Has it been mentioned already? Brisbane's small paper for stupid people has the story that the poms are looking for 3 fc matches prior to Brisbane. Fantastic!

Ugh. I recall in the 80s the Wozzies hosting the the touring sides (Poms and Windies) and actually giving them a touch up. False hopes raised and Aus smashed in T1 was the result.
And farkin Chris Matthews getting picked, FFS.
