Re: Time for a music thread
Unbelievable version of 'Stairway' by Ann & Nancy Wilson. (Man i had the hots for them when they were with Heart back in the seventies). The looks may be fading with time but not the talent or voices. John Bonham's son is on drums BTW.
Re: Time for a music thread
I did too, BD. Still think Ann Wilson has one of the finest female singing voices in the world ...... incredible range, and hits even the highest notes with no effort at all, as seen here. You prolly know that Heart were known as "Little Led Zep" back in the day.
A combination of memories of Bonzo, reinforced by the sight of his lad drumming, along with the brilliant rendition of the song had Robert Plant on the point of blubbing his head off. That alone says everything about the performance for me.

Mainly Bonzo memories I'd imagine.
Though there is no doubt Ann sings well.

LINK
The great Joni Mitchell, enigmatic still, seems to have taken a turn for the worse.
Embedded in this link is an extraordinary performance by an ageing Joni of perhaps her saddest song, Both Sides Now, written years ago, and years before she had any right to have acquired such wisdom and acceptance.
David Crosby believes she is 'perhaps' the greatest songwriter of our times, rivalled only by Bob Dylan, a big call given the close if not totally smooth working relationship he's had for so many years with Neil Young. Personally, I would throw Carole King and Jim Webb into the mix, but Joni is definitely up there.

This seems to be a MUST HAVE for Bailers; it's got everything
Christmas

In Japan I believe it is being released as The Basement Tapes. Wild rumours are circulating in Electric Lardyland that a deluxe reggae edition is being released as Debasement Tapes.

Re: Time for a music thread
Deaths of Kantner and Anderson led to a hunt for vids. My old vinyl records are long gone.
Hunted the net through Grace Slick. One pill makes you smaller, on pill makes you small.
Worth a hunt folks. Remembered why I was keen to meet Ms Slick in the late 60s!

Horrie, I put up an embedded video of White Rabbit on my original post mentioning Kantner's passing on the CDT.

Re: Time for a music thread
Aye thanks Wally. Have done my own long march. Still have a crush on the young Grace and her voice.
The 76 yo Grace is a hoot. In an interview she discusses the odd aspects oof ageing. Says old people should be heard but not seen.

I would like a dollar for every time I have listened to their music over the years.
Good times.

Spot on WW.
Often think it is harder for young folk than it was for boomers.
early JA was immanentalism. Thought there could be a better place.
