Caught some of the Saffie/England ODI yesterday and Trott attempted a reverse sweep when England were cruising, setting Boycott off a rant about what a dumb shot it is to play in the situation.

I can't remember too many dismissals coming from the shot. Are there any stats on how often the shot is played versus how often a batsman is dismissed?

Younis Khan plays that shot a lot and gets OUT a lot

I remember earlier this year in a test against SL PAK were bowled out for 90 in the 1st innings BUT came back brilliantly and were in control of the game when YK got out playing the reverse sweep which led to MONUMENTAL collapse

PAK went to lose that test match by lots of wickets.

Graham Thorpe played a sensational sweep against the WI in 2004.

Actually, it was during the third test and was the first one of the series. You must have at least an ounce of talent to be able to pull it off. A cool temperament and an eye for the field placements usually works.
