Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Bellerive, January 14-18
[Edit]Have now discovered this was ripped from Charles Davis's cricket blog.
Most ‘expensive’ dropped catch: 297 runs. Inzamam-ul-Haq, against New Zealand in 2002, was dropped on 32 by Robbie Hart, and went on to make 329. Honorable mention to Kumar Sangakkara, who was dropped on 0 against Zimbabwe in 2003/04, and made 270.
Good one z-score. I'd suggest this would be as close to definitive as can be found.

What a dirty slapper.
Amazingly, Border was only involved in 1 250+ partnership in his career.

Any feats "achieved" against NZ or Zimbabwe should be discounted from the record books as a matter of course.

This partnership is now in the highest 100 of all time in tests, knocking out Taylor/Langer and Hayden/Symonds who were previously tied on 100th.

Anything achieved against them in the 1990s. Doesn't count.

Except for holding the Ashes for an entire decade. Saying otherwise would mean the MBE bandwagoners in 05 should hand them back.Dello wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:what about england?Dello wrote:Zat wrote:And according to one of those dodgy 'ask and someone will provide the answer' sites...

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Bellerive, January 14-18
All this talk about 'Ponting declared during the 5th session at the MCG in similar circumstances to this match' is so much BS. The MCG Test was followed very rapidly by the SCG Test, enforcing the follow on in Melbourne was never going to be an option in case the bowlers were to be knackered for the 2nd Test. There's no Test to follow this one, so batting till after tea, and having 550+ on the board would be the smart thing to do. IMO.

Can't really laugh at him for getting 166.
Unless, he's just short of a milestone, then that would be mildly amusing.

ollie is on a hiding to nothing here...any runs made should be discounted because of the score and that they are playing on a flat deck...but of course another failure will add more pressure on him
