Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Bellerive, January 14-18
Aus squad/team to be announced today. Some press suggesting Marcus North to be dropped, with Hughes to be retained, and a re-shuffling of the batting order.
So Watson, who's done well as an opener despite his difficulties in overcoming the nervous 90s, would go back down the order to where he performed craptacularly badly?
Or would Katich, who's done nothing wrong as an opener, be put in the middle order?
Or do they take Hughes, an opener, who was found wanting against genuinely hostile bowling in the Ashes, and didn't exactly set the world on fire at the SCG, and make him a makeshift middle-order player?
Some of these suggestions might suggest that the NSP is stocking up on wallpaper.

No way will they drop Watto down the order . . . he's the rock on which our fragile batting is anchored . . .
Fark, who'd have thunkit . . .

Re: Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Bellerive, January 14-18
Meanwhile, Pakistan have firmly slammed shut the stable door...
...and the horse disappears over the horizon.Rashid Latif, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper and captain, had recommended in a report to the PCB Kamran be dropped. Widely regarded as the best keeper from Pakistan since Wasim Bari, Latif was briefly a wicketkeeping coach at Pakistan's National Cricket Academy, which produced Sarfraz.
"I gave the board a report in which I recommended Akmal not play international cricket for at least six months, but they didn't listen," Latif told Cricinfo. "He had too many technical faults, had put on too much weight for a wicketkeeper of his size and wearing a helmet to spinners was really hampering him."
Sarfraz, who led Pakistan to an under-19 World Cup win, briefly replaced Kamran in Pakistan's one-day team for the 2008 Asia Cup.
Kamran scored valuable runs on the recent tour to New Zealand, which resulted in reserve keeper Sarfraz being sent home.
"The blunder was to send Sarfraz back," Latif said. "I had recommended that at least try guys like Sarfraz and Salman Ahmed. He wears helmets to spinners which I think they shouldn't because it messes up the eye-line.

Is there still a question about Katich? If not, wtf is Hughes doing there?

Katich was a late withdrawal from that match because of an elbow injury and, according to team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris, will need to prove hit fitness for Hobart.
"Simon has been having regular treatment on his arm injury since being ruled out of the Sydney Test and will travel to Hobart with the squad where he will continue his rehabilitation," Kountouris said.
"A decision on his availability will be made closer to the start of the Test in Hobart after he's had an opportunity to bat in the nets to test his injury."

North should be gone ...he has no future in the team ...even if scores a heap of runs in Hobart ...unless they plan to make him captain

If the bugger could actually catch at slip, I'd say keep him . . . how about YT?

If we just wanted a bloke who's only skill is catching then Mark Waugh could still be in the team

it will be very difficult for PAK to come back after such a heartbreaking loss. AUS may win this game by an innings....but then again PAK may win by an innings.
what ever happens it will be a very one sided match.

Any word on Aamer's injury? Groin strains are barsteward's for fast bowlers.
And what's the word on the Bellerive deck this season? As lively as the last couple of seasons? BD?
