Like you said ... only the Paks could come up with this ......
PMSL.
In another twist, Kamran will have a say in whether he plays in Hobart because, as vice-captain, as he is part of the four-man selection committee, along with captain Yousuf, coach Intikhab Alam and team manager Abdul Raqeeb.

Bollocks, Giles had a vote as to whether they should frop him and pick Montay in the last Ashes tour . . . and we know how well that went . . .

I think, even more hilariously, Geraint Jones was also on the "senior players' committee" with Ashley Giles that got to decide whether Geraint Jones and Ashley Giles should regain their places from Chris Read and Monty Panesar.
They were the goodest of times...

With Prior and the Chinman, those dreadful days are now just a memory, eh?

Although to be fair, choosing Ashley Giles to keep wicket ahead of Chris Read would at least have offered a stronger tail....

Didn't think Piles had a vote on the '06/'07 Ashes tour?tac wrote:Merlin wrote:Like you said ... only the Paks could come up with this ......In another twist, Kamran will have a say in whether he plays in Hobart because, as vice-captain, as he is part of the four-man selection committee, along with captain Yousuf, coach Intikhab Alam and team manager Abdul Raqeeb.

Thought it was because he was Felch's blue arsed boy that he got picked ahead of Montay for the first 2 tests!
The memory does get blacked out after getting whupped 5 -0 donchaknow!

It's a shame there haven't been any Ashes series since then.

Faking injury to pull out of a Test in a sook about your brother getting dropped for losing a Test. Paksters unravelling at the seams as usual. [sigh]G.Wood wrote:Only the pakistani team could come up with this

Shane Warne had a vote on whether he got dropped on the 1999 tour of the West Indies.
Suprise, suprise, he voted to retain himself. Luckily for Australia Steve Waugh and Geoff Marsh voted to drop him (and Warne has never forgiven them for doing so).

That's really sad in a way, but an extremely dangerous situation. How do Pakistan know that Umar wont give his wicket away in protest? FFS, Pakistan cricket is so mental.

The off-field sub-plots when they tour can be just as entertaining as the on-field action. No excuse for Umar to act in this petulant fashion. Both Steve Waugh and Morne Morkel had to make way for their brothers to be selected in tests and we didn't see sympathy protests then. Kamran should dissuade his younger sibling from such an ill-considered protest.

I don't think it had anything to do with brother love. Umar was just fearful that if Kamran wasn't there he would now be the worst catcher in the side

phurt...kamran's behaviour echoes that of a number of Australian players in recent years who believe they have an iron clad right to a place in the Test team...consider the media bleatings over the years and recent past from the likes of bung, fleas, Mr Snicket, magoo and the orchestrated statements of support from team mates - eg the most recent being statements made by Punter and Hildy in support of ollie north
i guess it is more amusing when players from other countries engage in such public campaigns

It's crap, whoever does it, h. Characters are being weeded out of the game in favour of blokes who always toe the PC party line.

hmmn the party line seems to be "lets keep this little gig to ourselves boys"
feel for the young keeper the stanlanders have sent out herenot much fun turning up to the team hotel and knowing that some do not want you there.

The PCB should just threaten Umar with a complete termination of his PCB contract. International, domestic, everything.

that is the sort of mad despotic thing they would do...Umar just needs a very stern and private talking to...Alam though should be banished from stanland cricket
