Re: Elders ... whodunnit?
No aspirations there - as previously stated - but, as expected, conveniently overlooked.
Wassup? Myopia striking again ... or yet another one of your "too easy as per usual" afterthoughts?

Actually, at the time of my posting this, no. You're not. (clicky linky thing)Merlin wrote:Nice try Zat - but it ain't whingeing ...after all I too am an "ELDER" now ... ironic isn't it?! So just watch it hey!Zat wrote:So merlin's whingeing posts preceding mine don't count. Riiiiight...eowyn wrote:Blimey, Zat, you aren't half going on and on about all this elder status. I think you need to look at your reactions and possibly grow a thicker skin....
Your initial post was a repeat of the style of whingeing that batty, RobI, and vilky went on with. Nothing new there. And no surprise in retrospect to see you in the same league as the first two.
Your bullet pointed reply to my issues on this promotion/elder malarky proves my point precisely about dishing it but being unable to take it .... criticism that is.
Grow a thicker skin mate!
And conveniently ignoring the explanation I'd put in there so you can carry on with your attention-whoring.I was NOT selectively criticising individual forumers - 'cept for a passing reference to MB which was to highlight (in MB's case an innocent attempt at 'dicking' around) the possible - repeat possible - abuse of "power" by any one of the numerous "elders" for that matter - peeking in at posts and PM's and unilaterallly adjusting/amending them to suit their own diktat and convenience....

PMSL I think JKL edited that post. Merlin technically had 15 when Lever posted that.

Just shut the place down. All it's good for now is for people to whinge about stuff that hasn't happened.

Re: Elders ... whodunnit?
I was searching my emails last night for something, and along with the thing I was looking for up popped this mail series from 2010. First reactions to 'The Elders debacle' from one elder and two proles. Made me chuckle, as did this thread, which was one of several that popped up when I did a search for 'Elders'. Opposite of Gold status, though. 'Good times'? More than 3 years ago now, half the forum's lifetime, before Dello handed over to Smerk and Lever ...

Anyone with 10K posts or more is now a mod.
Which means I just changed the name of the ‘Oval Test’ thread to something more apt.
It won’t last long, but it’s funny at the moment.

13 mods at the moment. Vikas is way off. And mods can delete posts, so it won’t be too hard to keep some people below 10k. Not that I’d ever admit to that publicly of course.
It beats the hell out of ‘repping’ as a trouble-starter.

And it cost us a few good posters. Shoeshine is one that comes to mind. He was most put out and flounced off, never to return.

He was only ever really an active poster when England was winning the Ashes in 2005; didn't do much here IIRC.

Re: Elders ... whodunnit?
Never spoke with him off the boards, so the above is just the way I remember him ... the only posts I remember him making were along the lines I've referred to above. It's not like he was omnipresent like Trev, killing careers at a rate of a dozen a week; Pete, with his quizzes, pics, and wordplay; or skulls, who until a few months ago had 3 meals a day here, with a barrel of merlot each week!

So the 4 500 posts he racked up here were all about the 2005 Ashes? Seemed pretty active to me.

Any suspicion of him having another handle on here (other than Cheesy)?

Are you trying to misinterpret me?
The posts I remember from Shoeshine were mostly from 2005, on the previous board, when the 2005 Ashes were on ... you know, 2005 was before this board opened in 2007. He and Ashes Summer had a gloating Hooray Henry double act going on.
I can't remember much of his work as Shoeshine here. Did I miss something?
As I said the first time.
