I'm not the guy who consumes 33,000 calories a day, if that's what you're wondering.

Robertson in the final.
I know he's an Aussie and this is probably sacrilege, but I hope he goes on to win it.

An aussie winning the snooker FFS? Next they'll be knocking us out of the football world cup at the 2nd round stage!!

Re: World Championship Snooker
Who's he playing? He seems a nice enough chap, unlike the last Aussie to be billed as a potential world beater in snooker, Quentin Hahn. He comes from Wagga Wagga, where I live, and you'd think the town would be right behind him, but everyone here knew he was a qunt before he hit the world stage. His demise as a snooker force has basically been greeted with laughter in this part of the world. So go Robbo, pick up the title.vilkrang wrote:Robertson in the final.

England have to reach the 2nd round first!JKLever wrote:An aussie winning the snooker FFS? Next they'll be knocking us out of the football world cup at the 2nd round stage!!

I just meant about the England getting to the second round.
Definite banana skin if you ask me.
(I'll avoid a similar conversation that you and PP took part in different thread) No contradictions here.

Re: World Championship Snooker
Quintin Hann was a total f*cking asshole, no way would I have wanted him to win it, but like you say Robertson seems like a decent chap, and as I mentioned before he plays at my old snooker club so I've always liked to see him do well. He's playing Graeme Dott, a Scotsman with a ridiculously high pitch voice.Zat wrote:Who's he playing? In other news John Higgins has been caught on tape taking a bribe:

I never liked John but I never in a million years thought that he was capable of this. Always seemed like an honest guy.

Re: World Championship Snooker
It is, but to be honest I'm glad it's out now. The way the manager and John were talking I didn't get the impression that this was the first time they had had such a meeting.JGK wrote:Is that another News of the World entrapment?
2nd worst thing to ever happen in snooker (the first being the death of Paul Hunter), though this one will have deeper ramifications for the sport unfortunately.

Re: World Championship Snooker
Never understand the point of players taking bribes, and with a profilic player such as John Higgins doing something like this, it really won't help the game's image.

Re: World Championship Snooker
Exactly, Stephen Lee was investigated recently and whilst it wouldn't have been great for him to be found guilty, having the current world champion, current world number 1 and a guy known for his squeaky clean image and regarded as a great ambassador to snooker caught like this... The damage could be irreparable, particularly if Hearn walks away (hopefully he won't).DJ_Smerk wrote:Never understand the point of players taking bribes, and with a profilic player such as John Higgins doing something like this, it really won't help the game's image.
I'm so gutted about this and pretty angry at Higgins. I wonder who else is in on this type of thing? It would be a good bet (no pun intended) that Stephen Maguire is, having been investigated himself and having the same manager as Higgins.
I'm wondering whether NOTW have a few more stories like this up their sleave and will be releasing them over subsequent weeks.
Thank fark Ronnie doesn't seem to be implicated. That would be the final nail in the coffin if that happened.
