Formula One World Championship
I have just started this thread in the hope that people discuss F1 in here & don't blurt out the result in a topic heading as many of us watch replays & would prefer not to know the result beforehand. e.g. In Australia at the moment Channel 10 is showing the race & there are still 25 laps to go. However, apparently the race has finished.
Thank you all for your co-operation.

Then why the hell did you start the thread. I just watched the race live on One HD.
Webber ended 12th.

Thanks JGK I was just watching the bloody thing. Though why they hold a race on a track you could land a 747 on, with no crowds in attendance (that I could see) is beyond me.

Because, I had no intention of opening this thread again until after the replay finished although I already knew the winner because of JKL's thread. I'm hoping it will be used in future rounds.
I don't look in the NRL or AFL threads until after the replays have finished. e.g. On Friday nights, Brisbane viewers usually see the Broncos game at 7.30 & the other game at 9.30 whereas Sydney viewers would normally watch them in the reverse order.

Well I suppose F! is one of the few sports where the crowd atmosphere doen't matter too much to the participants.

McLaran escape with a suspended three-race ban.
Bit of a result for them: a final final warning.

Got a small wager on with a mate (who knows an awful lot more about the sport than me and competes occasionally in one of the lesser formulas) on whether Donington will host the British GP next year.
I thought at the time they'd get it on, he said not. I win the bet if the race goes ahead at Donington, he wins if it goes ahead at Silverstone, we're quits if there's no British GP.
He's in a comfortable winning position at the moment methinks. Donington in all sorts of trouble with the land owners over unpaid rent, and planning permission for the new pits has been refused by the clearly very forward thinking NW Leicestershire Council.
All but dead in the water I'd say.

The irony would be (should Donnington collapse) if the Poisoned Dwarf was told to F**k Right Off by Silverstone when he returned to them with his begging bowl ... before they triple their appearance money!!

The Turkish Grand Prix has just started on Channel Ten. I've been looking forward to watching this.
I'm really pleased that I started this thread so that people can post in here rather than giving out the result in a thread heading.

Re: Formula One World Championship
Fantastic win for Brawn GP & Button. Both at the top of their game.
Also pleasant to see the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, BMW, Williams & the like stoushing over the scraps. There also seems to be a hellava lot more overtaking in season 2009 - real racing unlike we've seen in many premier/ senior four wheel categories for tooooo long.

A work colleague and I were drunkenly belting out the Beatles at full volume last night as we made our way to the train station. To their cultural credit, the majority of Japanese passers by barely batted an eyelid.

Seemingly unloved by his peers on the F1 circuit, unless McLaren get their act together, it's gonna be a very very long road back for him.

phurt! How will that limit his career? That game is full of qunts. You can't see Hamilton on the grid next to Jensen when they've punted Ruebens?

He should take a leaf out of Clarkson's book and go on the road.

Agree about the qunts aspect ... what I meant was that Hamilton (with all the unloving around him from both drivers and mechanics) might just find himself isolated when the time comes, inevitably, for him to move on from McLaren.Mick Sawyer wrote:Seemingly unloved by his peers on the F1 circuit,

With RD gawn (and with a little help from Hamilton), his guardian angel is no longer there to protect him.

Re: Formula One World Championship
I remember when he won it last year and they tried to interview his dad. He basically just walked away and gave really condescending answers. They both seem like proper c*nts. Really glad he didn't win sports personality of the year and find it funny that Jenson should win it this year quite comfortably (unless he pulls off the choke to end all chokes).Merlin wrote:A one trick pony who, with his old man, dumped heavily on his long-time mentor.Nath wrote:so how about that Lewis Hamilton, eh?

In car related news, GM today sold Saab to Koenigsegg.
To put that into perspective, Koenigsegg make 18 cars a year.
