India 'A' tour of Eng
Currently, they're involved in a 3-day game against Yorkshire.
Scored 3/473 decl in their first innings and then reduced Yorkshire to 2/20.
Shikhar Dhawan scored 179, Rahane scored 118 and Mukund scored 91. Pujara too shipped in with a unbeaten 50.

I just can't fathom why couldn't they give Dhawan a single chance for India while giving duds like Karthik chances after chances. I can't really put it beyond nepotism from Srikanth.

Dhawan looks class whenever I see him bat. Pujara is the real deal as far as a potential test batsman is concerned. One advantage he has is that he knows he'll never be a great T20 batsman.

Dhawan doesn't inspire much confidence, has the same shortcomings as Raina IMHO.
This team though is probably better than the one that went to Zim.

It's pretty much a 2nd XI apart from Sayers & Wainwright who I rate as a bit of a prospect but got absolutely pummelled.
Oh, and Tino Best. Snigger!

Either the Indians bowled really well, which I doubt considering the pacers are Kulkarni, Sudeep Tyagi and Jaskaran Singh (FFS), or Sayers is an uber crab.
Iqbal Abdulla takes a 4-fer. Really good and intelligent bowler.

Sayers is a total crab btw. We famously followed him on here as he scored 2 off 95 balls one season...

Can't be worst than lot of other FTBs who toured Zimbabwe, like Vijay, Karthik, Pathan etc.Dhawan doesn't inspire much confidence

Jaidev Unadkat picks up 7 against WI-A, highly rated by Akram. Pujara, Rahane and Mukund also doing well enough.

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
He was extremely impressive, particularly in that he was equally effective from both over and around the wicket. The conditions have been a bit too favourable for the seamers in the morning though as India A have collapsed from 183/2 to 240/9, with fast bowling all rounder Andre Russell taking a 5 wicket haul.
Morning session scores:
Day 1: WI A 63/6
Day 2: India A 57/7
He has appeared from nowhere to make an FC century whilst taking lots of wickets in the last few weeks.
India A do look a talented side though, I was very impressed with their bowling unit as a whole and their batting last night was extremely solid. They are an awful fielding side however, their throws from the boundary were hardly reaching the keeper whereas Windies A were absolutely firing them in. Just something for the Indian A coach to work on I think.

Woah, Unadkat picks up 6 wickets in the 2nd innings giving India the win. The most heartening thing is 4 of them were LBWs, which would indicate that he's got a killer inswinger.
Rahane also does very well, strange his international prospects don't get talked about as much considering how prolific he is. All in all, not bad at all.

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
So thats 2 of our upcoming youngsters who can be trusted to be given a chance at the highest level.
Got to say it'd be very interesting to see our test team for SL tour. Vijay's position in the team is looking very shaky though Srikanth would still ensure that he stays there.

I read somewhere that this was Jaidev's debut in FC cricket. Very impressive debut indeed.

They've another FC match against WI, and then ODs. Would have been good if England A had played FC matches as well.

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
It's too bad that in two years Unadkat will be down on pace and frequently injured, before being chucked into the pile marked 'promising young Indian fast bowler who never fulfilled his potential'.
Seriously though, in the last 10 years, only Zaheer has come vaguely close to fulfilling his early promise.

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
England A at the moment would be something like-
Hales (KP-like batsman- 6'4, strong, hits the ball miles)
lyth (stacks of runs so far this season for Yorks)
Bopara (Still there or there abouts)
Gale (c) (Has been earmarked as a potential future England player and captain)
Morgan (Was only playing against the bangers because Colly was rested)
Ali (stacks of runs for Worcs this season)
Davies+ (Prolific with the bat and a good gloveman)
Rashid (Should be England's next in line spinner)
Woakes (Fast bowling all rounder)
Plunkett (Erratic but a wicket taker)
Footitt (Left armer who bowls around 87-88 mph. Worth a punt)

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
So, Eng has basically a pretty good bench strength atm.
Would've been a good workout for Ind 'A' had we've a FC game scheduled against Eng 'A'.

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
If Mithun had been here, instead of warming the bench in Zimbabwe, and Tyagi wouldn't have been injured in the very first match, India's attack could have been much more potent. Abdullah is a fighting player but doesn't have much class at the moment. I'd have preferred Ojha here.
But thanks to these meningless ODIs, India's real players who should have been playing for the A team are not here.

I disagree, think the A team is actually pretty good, much better than the clowns who went to Zim. Abdulla is talented and international exposure will do him good, Ojha has had enough.

Re: India 'A' tour of Eng
It should be a good 'A' ODI series, England 'A' or Lions to give them their full name will be pretty strong. Possibly led by Alastair Cook.
