Re: Shut up Shane - You are a miserable man
Why would murali not want to be tested during an actual test?
As Warne said it's a sure fire way to prove he's under 15 during the stresses of an actual game.
he really is thin skinned for a pro sportsman.

he is thin skinned but the timing of warne's comments is what probably riled him most. lets face it, it does look like sour grapes a bit

How is it possible to test him during a Test? It'd be farcical.

It's only possible to test other bowlers during Tests.

When have other bowlers been tested during Tests? Scientifically I mean, not by Umpires.

Re: Shut up Shane - You are a miserable man
Well as i said in the other thread about this.they 'tested' all these other bowlers in the champs trophy that murali missed.
they found some of them to be over 5 degrees so on that basis a group comprising Angus Fraser, Michael Holding, Tim May, Aravinda de Silva and Tony Lewis decided to raise the limit to 15.
Apperently they used high speed cameras to test actions, now why was it good enough to test every bowler except murali and then change the rules to suit murali based on said tests but it's not good enough to in game tets murali himself.

Where did you think all the stuff about other bowlers 'occasionally approaching a 12% bend' came from?

So does anyone realise Warney is sour that Murali might break his record, IN AUSTRALIA. If it was on any other continent, he may picked his words a bit more carefully.

Why am i not surpised though that yet another murali supporter has no idea at all about the circumstances that lead to him being cleared.
from cricinfo:
But preliminary results from the latest research completed by Paul
Hurrion, a UK-based sports scientist, during the ICC Champions Trophy -
where video footage of the world's leading bowlers were recorded and
analysed by super-speed cameras.
How could you support him being cleared if you don't even know how he was cleared?

Wasn't the "testing" by Holding done with a protractor on a tv screen?

After this attack on Muralidaran, i'll be happy if he breaks Warneys record, even though I do admire Warne to the highest degree.

It does seem unlikely after Test 1.
Australia would have to lose more than 6 wickets, they might even have to bat twice.
What's Murali's Test average in Australia?
Have you read the whole article, Smerky? Warne points out that the tests might well 'clear' Murali in a Test, which would shut up the objections of those who say he CAN bowl, in the lab, but chooses not to in a game.

Why not ask for testing before? Why now, just as Murali is about to break his record?
Murali's average in Aus is 67.50 from 4 Tests.

Re: Shut up Shane - You are a miserable man
The suggestion that Murali should be tested in a game has been made many times before.
There's not much happening in Australia at the moment, apart from the election, and that's a foregone conclusion, so a comment from Warne on Muralitharan is newsworthy.
Reporter: 'So Warnie, do you think Muralitharan should be tested in a game to silence those critics who say he bowls in the lab but chucks in a game?'
Warnie: 'Yeah, that sounds ace ... he'd have to be happy with that if was cleared, too'.
Cue media beat-up and mass umbrage amongst the thin-skinned.

Re: Shut up Shane - You are a miserable man
Exactly if he's lower than 15 in game end of story(while the 15 degree rule is silly it's what we have)
If testing in games isn't possible why did they come out with their 'all players throw' line after the champs trophy.
Why did they change the rules based on in game tests if in game tests are impossible?
As i said in the other thread only in the strange cricket world would this make sense.

Why is the 15 degree rule silly? Yes, it's arbitrary but unless you're going to test every player ever then the quoted degree has to be arbitrary.

Well, make it 15 degrees in the lab for everybody (I reckon Kirtley could come in under 15 in the lab) or 15 degrees in matches for everybody.

Re: Shut up Shane - You are a miserable man
becuase the 15 degree rule was set ater those tests in the 2003 champs trophy.
Tests that we are now told can't be carried out on murali.
They can't be used to test murali but they can be used to clear him?
You can't seem something strange about that?

That wasn't my question. You said that 15 degrees was silly. Why? Like I said, it had to be set somewhere and unless you test every player, ever, it has to be arbitrary.
