Vilks...
Was it you who wrote about the Allen Carr book a few months ago?
I couldn't find the thread/ post via search, hence the question.

Well, then, I wanted to say thanks. Never heard about the guy or his book before you wrote that post.

Oh cool, did you read it then?furriner wrote:Well, then, I wanted to say thanks. Never heard about the guy or his book before you wrote that post.
If so you are the 4th person I've recommended it to that it has helped, so spread the word too .

I read it in parts (yet to finish it) did some other research as well, so a lot of things helped.
But it's a great book. I'm one month into my cigarette quit; that book really got me started on something I never thought I had the will power to try in 25 odd years.
So, thanks again. In a karmic sense I really do owe you big time
PS: Just don't ask for money in return.

Well in that case like I say, spreading the word is all I would ask .

Re: Vilks...
Doremi,
He has to try and give it a serious shot.
It's a freaking great book. Most quit methods assume that giving up cigarettes is a big deal and requires huge will power. This books flips that and says that while it takes some effort, giving up smoking is no big deal.
And if you buy into that (he has very logical arguments) quitting becomes so much easier (it's still not easy mind).
Yeah, give it to him and if can read it with intent, it would help.

I think the best thing it did was rather than the more traditional approach of "smoking is bad for you, it's really bad and it's bad for you!", instead it questions what you actually gain from smoking.

I think he wants to quit, has had a couple of almost tries. So there is a little intent.
Would be great because I've spent most of my 20 years trying to get him to quit.

If he's serious I can let you know a bunch of important online resources (all free) that I found invaluable in helping me quit.
The more you know on what to expect, what other people are saying, what experts advise - the more chances that you'll quit successfully.

Twelve years now since I gave up the cigarettes. Prolly the hardest thing I’ve done.
Thanks again Vilks. Big time.
