Re: So it's 9/11 again
I was only 12, hot sunny day, came home to see the aftermath on the TV.
Brings memories flooding back.

Come on now, we all know I suck at simple calculations. Who could forget Brass Monkey and Taips raising me on my adding skills during the Fantasy Football last year.

I don't watch television in the morning & for some weird reason I didn't hear a radio so I got to work with nfi. (Situation normal, some would say)
hmmn...another non billy resident in Chip Central rang me and I ended up watching through the night

Re: So it's 9/11 again
The attacks happened late at night Sydney time, and while I was up late at home I didn't have the tele or the radio on. It was in the days before I owned a mobile phone. No one called me on the landline. I'm sure someone would send me a text these days.
I went to bed completely oblivious to the carnage that was taking place in America. After a brief night's sleep my radio alarm clock woke me up to the sounds of the Andrew Denton Show. For non-Aussies, Andrew Denton is one of the funniest and most respected comedians in Australia. His show was consistently funny. But on the morning of the 12th of September 2001 it wasn't funny. There was a very sombre tone to the proceedings. I knew something was wrong.
I turned on the TV to see a banner running across the screen "America Under Attack". I normally take about five minutes to get dressed each morning. It took me about 30 minutes on this day. I was taking minutes to do up a single button. I was moving in slow motion.
The most amazing thing about the day was a hail storm that seemingly came out of nowhere in the late morning. The weather was fine, then it started raining; within a minute or two it was hailing. The hail pounded down for 10 minutes, then disappeared as quickly as it had arrived. The sun came out and life went on... but we all did wonder if the apocalypse was just around the corner.
