Re: Rugby Leeeeg 2010 (II)
Two outstanding matches tonight (on top of an outstanding Rugby Test, a thriller in the AFL and another thriller between Man U and Everton - it's just a shame ALL my teams were on the wrong end of it all).
Meanwhile, the McIntyre system gets shown up to be a steaming pile of dog poo yet again - the Warriors v Titans match last night was basically for double points - the winner get to go straight through to the Prelim Finals whereas the loser is gone. Totally unfair.

Damn straight - qunt of a system. When will Leeeeg swallow their pride and align their Finals series with the AFL?JGK wrote:Meanwhile, the McIntyre system gets shown up to be a steaming pile of dog poo yet again - the Warriors v Titans match last night was basically for double points - the winner get to go straight through to the Prelim Finals whereas the loser is gone. The McIntyre system is indeed a load of bollocks.
But... that first semi-final last night was incredible. Actually, the final minute of regular time alone was beyond belief; the Roosters charge, the hit, the scrum, the scramble, the field goal - as Gus would say, WOW!
Everyone at the stadium stayed on their feet for the entire length of extra time. It should be ten minutes each way and then golden point if you ask me, but who cares when you get treated to entertainment like that!

What I now find un-farkin-believable is that no matter what today's result, the Raiders, the no. 7 side by the skin of their teeth after being sh!t all year bar the last 8 weeks, now get a home final in the 2nd week of the semis. If the Drag don't choke today, the wounded Tigers have to go to Canberra, and if the Drags DO choke, they have to go to Canberra next weekend.
FFS, what a qunt of a system, that gives an armchair ride to the 7th placed side.

Some commonsense (not always the case) being spoken on Nein's Sunday Roast. They have said the new Leeeeg Independent Commission MUST p!ss off or modify the stripping rule, and it must p!ss off the McIntyre system.
For the uninitiated, after the weekend results so far, scenarios for next weekend are:
If Dragons beat Manly:
Friday Night - Raiders v Tigers in Canberra (FFS)
Saturday Night - R00ters v Panthers in Sydney
Dragons and Titans get the week off
If Manly beats the Dragons:
Friday Night - Sea Eagles v Panthers in Sydney
Saturday Night - Raiders v Dragons in Canberra (FFS)
Titans and R00ters get the week off.
Did I mention it's a qunt of a system?

SFS or Homebush
"Home" finals only apply the first two weeks of the finals series IIRC.

Nice to see the leeegies here indulging in the usual histrionics about the McIntyre system being to blame.skully wrote:And WTF a "home" final should ever apply to 7th or 8th has got me farked. What a load of bullsh!t.

The McIntyre system only determines who plays who. Now, I'll do this next bit slowly for you mungoes, OK?
The... N.R.L. ... determines ... where ... the ... finals ... are ... played ... and .. decided ... long ... ago ... that ... first ... week ... winners ... get ... home ... finals ... in ... the ... second ... week.
Don't blame the system, blame (yet again) the *sh!t* who run the game in this country.
I think finals location could be 'seeded' (under the eMcIntrye system) as follows:
1st and 2nd, guaranteed two home finals (In weeks 1 and 3 if they win first-up, or weeks 1 and 2 if they lose first-up)
3rd and 4th, first final at home, with a second home final if they win first up (either in week 2 or 3)
5th and 6th, first final is away, second final at home - if they win in the first week.
7th and 8th, all finals away.
* 'Home' being defined under the NRL's existing definitions for finals:
Home Ground in week 1
Home City in week 2
Home 'Region' in week 3 (Which I guess means 'State' - the only team with an issue there might be Canberra if it happened, hosting a Preliminary final in Canberra would not be a great dollar earner for the NRL, with capacity there around 30 000...)

I'm also somewhat surprised that skully hasn't found a way to blame the inequities of the NRL finals system on the ALP.

Meh, if the home games are allocated sensibly, it's pretty simple. Win your games, and you have a better chance of winning the premiership...

WTF is Zog bullsh!tting on about? Were you on a promise and got knocked back? FFS, I don't like the McIntyre system and said so.
Anywho, back to the matters at hand. STICK THAT UP YA @RSE, COASTAL FILTH!!!!!
Sure it wasn't as pretty as the Tiges v R00ters game but the boys ground 'em into the dust. And that qunt of a ref blew his whistle a million times, as opposed to last night's game when there were only half a dozen penalties. 28-0 is an excellent result, all the same.
And is there a bigger, more hated qunt in the game than Anthony Watmough?? Not since Martin Bella has there been a bigger qunt in the game. Cowardly dropped the knees into the back of Ben Hornby's calf as he lay on the ground, got reported then gave the touchy a gobful. Rightly marched. What a pr!ck.
Go you Mighty Drags!!!

Read the screen. Or were there too many long words for you? The problem you espoused was about the seventh team getting a home game. A decision I also think is stupid. But it's not a flaw in the McIntyre system that did that, it's the utter nincompoops at the NRL. Again.
Fair dinkum, you must have some banjo in you.

Re: Rugby Leeeeg 2010 (II)
skully wrote:What a classic semi final between the Tigers and the R00ters. It was all Tigers for 60 minutes then the C0cks slowly got back into it. Massive hit by Dwyer on Waerea-Hargreaves with 90 seconds left on the clock saw the ball spew free and a scrum with a Tigers feed, which should've seen the end of the game with the Tiges a point to the good. But they somehow let the R00ters get the ball at the base of the scrum and after much scrambling, Anasta hit a sweet dropped goal from beyond 30m to tie up the game.
20 minutes of extra time saw numerous field goal attempts before a long pass by the Tigers near the R00ters 20m line was intercepted by Shaun Kenny-Dowell, who ran 70m to score the winning try.
Epic semi.
