Brendan Taylor is a player who can lead by example, especially, if Zimbabwe are to resurface as a Test nation.
It's quite rare in this day and age to have a consistent wicketkeeper batsman. (No really it is).
His scores from May 28th 2010 (in One Day Internationals)
81 v India
2 v Sri Lanka
74 v India
119* v Sri Lanka
19 v Sri Lanka
27 v Ireland
71 v Ireland
3 v Ireland
145* v South Africa
Not exactly "shabby" opponents either. India's side wasn't packed with experience, but a score is a score.

Zimbabwe 268 all out.
Still a competitive target whatever you may think.

You know he isn't playing as WK right?

True. But it's good that he has that skill to fall back on.

Didn't turn out to be remotely competitive!

Zim seem to have found some good young batsmen but they still need at least two good bowlers to become competitive again. Kyle Jarvis and Graeme Cremer appear to be the bowlers most likely.

Cremer (a leggy) should be nurtured properly. It'll be funny if Zimbabwe find a competent spinner before South Africa do.

They had Paul Strang when South Africa had to make do with Pat Symcox, and South Africa pinched John Traicos ( a Zimbabwean and very decent spinner) in the 70s.
Hell, even Paul Harris was born in Zimbabwe.
