Re: Mike Selvey's AT LH XI
Here is an alternative pre 90s XI:
Morris - top scorer on the "Invincible" tour; he and Bradman scored 196 between them in Bradman's last test
Bardsley - first man to get 2 x 100s in a test match
Leyland - Yorkshire terrier, last innings was 187 at the Oval 38
Hill - one of Australia's greats, considered Trumper's equal
Woolley - most FC matches and catches, second most FC runs in history and the small matter of 2000+ FC wickets as well
Rhodes - Yorkshire legend, over 4000 FC wickets and nearly 40000 FC runs, one of the few to play against both WG and Bradman
Marsh - mighty Aussie keeper,
Verity - best FC innings figures ever (10 for 10); got Bradman out more times in tests than anyone, 2000 FC wickets at 15!, killed in WWII
Voce - Bodyline hero
Ferris - shooting star in late 1800s, died at 33
Reid - could have been anything, Australia's best between DKL and tgm.
Thats a couple of hundred thousand FC runs and about 12000 FC wickets there.

Not sure Marty's isn't a premature ejaculation of enthusiasm, careerwise, but JGK should def mail his alternative lineup in to Selvey via Guardian.

So much for GP's leggies then.

I always get Mike Selvey mixed up with Mick Sawyer. How do you tell them apart?

Shameful, he's the best cricket journalist going IMO.
What was the problem then - writing eloquently and sensibly?
