Flaming Bails Selectors Thread - Ashes 3rd Test
Okay then, we all think we can do a better job than the selectors. Aussie forumers post your XI for the WACA, English forumers post your XI and from the players that get most votes are our choice.
England its a bit of a no-brainer. Tremlett for Broad to exploit the bounce at Perth:
Strauss*
Cook
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Prior+
Swann
Tremlett
Anderson

clarke should be 'rested'
ponting to bat at 6 or be forced into retirement now
pk - that attack will again struggle to take 5 wickets between them...Hilf and Rhino are too similar

Tremlett for Broad. Although now we're one up, England might see Bresnan as the 'safe' option with his batting etc.

Put Haddin in at six and play five bowlers plus Watto.
Sounds stupid, but they can't do much worse than the current mob.

For Australia- Hughes for Katich, Khawaja for North, Hauritz/Smith for Doherty, and Mark Cameron/Ben Hilfenhaus for Bollinger, who still isn't 100% fit.

How many players did England use in the 1989 Ashes? Can Australia beat our record?

Liking the look of that 8-11 from an English perspective though I guess Aus will have to gamble with their side and with some of the decks they prepare for the last 3 tests.
Watson is a problem for me, similar to Cook in 2008 - getting 50-60 without going on.... get him down the order and get 2 new openers. Though NOT Hughes, despite his 80 in the 'A' game.

Is Shaun Tait injured?
I don't see why Aus don't wheel him out for some 3-4 over spells... pretty much made you look a different side in the one dayers here last summer

I reckon this might be pretty close to what I would do but maybe Midge for Bolly.

Re: Flaming Bails Selectors Thread - Ashes 3rd Test
I know this smacks of England panic-tactics circa 1995 but has anyone seen Stuart Clark bowl lately?
We need someone who can keep it tight and maintain some pressure with a consistent line and length. He's still plodding around in the Shield for NSW. Would it be worth bringing him back on a wing and a prayer?

Meanwhile, Steve Smith has taken four wickets at the SCG today.
Admittedly, it was against South Australia, so it's a pretty useless form guide.

Suppose taking four crap wickets is still better than taking no wickets at all.

hmmn..I love how the nobs who run australian cricket talk about how we are in a rebuilding phase and the fans need to be patient ....the point is 5 of our top 7 are 30+...not much rebuilding going on here

Why? Do you want to shove a whole cooked chook down Hilditch's throat?
