Re: The real Ashes start
Women's Tests have always been few and far between, just don't make a lot of economic sense I guess.

Because men are arseholes who don't think women can hack 5 days on the trot.

If women went out & watched their games things may be different.

Re: The real Ashes start
I've been to some women's cricket matches. I know the players at international level are the best feamle players from their countries, but as a viewing spectacle, the matches just don't stack up.
It's a lot like watching under 17s or under 19s in the mens game, but knowing there's not as much room for improvement in the players.

I think women's tests are played over 4 days.
@Zat. How is the standard going to improve if the longer form isn't played more often. I think there are 5 t20's on this tour.

taips, the standard of women's cricket is highly unlikely to ever reach that of the men's game if it's played under the current conditions.
They play with a different sized ball, the boundaries are roped in shorter... It's just like junior cricket, except that the guys playing in the juniors will grow into men and one day play a full version of the game.

Zat, it will never reach the standard of the men's game, but that's no reason not to try and increase the present standard.

Re: The real Ashes start
The current domestic format in Oz is that the Women play three matches over a weekend ...a T20 then a 50 over game then another T20 ...admission is free and they get farque all crowds to the games ...friends and rellies if they are lucky
This allows them to run two comps ...pay one lot of air fares and accommodation...and the girls don't miss a week of work
The comp in Perth is they play 50 over matches when the Fury players are available to play and T20 games when the Fury are playing ...The games are played to WNCL rules ...which are the same as Womens international rules
WA has some talented chicks playing for them but the talent runs out very quickly ...they keep recruiting overseas and interstate players to bolster the talent
The Lesbian Mafia running the comp doesn't necessarily help

Re: The real Ashes start
The only way it'd be any good is if they all start taking testosterone like Russian athletes (allegedly) used to. That way they could bulk up and start giving it a tonk to get it off the square for a change, and bowling faster than 43mph.
Far better would be just to make it topless cricket. Now that would be worth the admission fee.

Topless cricket would make sure everyone was in their seats early for the double headers.

Re: The real Ashes start
Don't be ridiculous, Embee. Obviously the selection policy would have to be changed. Something along the lines of a resemblance to Red's avatars should do the trick.

Well? Get to it, Red - here's a proper bit of selection policy to get your teeth into.
