You'd get a crowd ... people would flock to see a 'carnival' charity match between two sides of mostly retired players, say a 50 over match, even 12-13 a side, involving some of the following players, most of whom would probably be available for this cause:

That is terrible. Cricket Australia and Australian cricket's popularity is probably at an all time low anyway. Now they've managed to come across at heartless as well.

An official ODI series between Australia and England are not "charity matches." They are serious international games as the two teams prepare for the World Cup. A light hearted game between some legends of Australian and English cricket with a few guys mic'd up etc would have been just the ticket.

Warney has a fair bit of clout. I'm sure he could organise something without CA and Channel Nine's permission and get enough draw-card players for one of the TV networks to be interested.
