Shoes/ Boots made in England...........
................are supposed to be pretty damn good. Edward Green, Lobbs etc. But they're also pretty damn expensive.
Any of you otherwise -and- no- doubt- soon -to- be- again useless English (and one Welsh) qunts know some decent places there to order good shoes? Dress shoes, monks, chukkas etc. I'm talking either a shoemaker who's good but not so well known (i.e. cheaper) or places to get second hand/ seconds (i.e, cheaper) made by the more famous shoemakers.
And no, I'm not drunk.

Go to a Clark's Factory Outlet, they sell loads of chukka boots at reasonable prices.

Doesn't Bucky specialise in leather goods? I suppose that would include shoes. But his speciality seems to be arseless leather chaps. Don't know where they're made...

You may not be drunk, furry, but it's good to see you here talking cobblers.

Fuzza, you're talking to 'tha man' now. Northampton is famed for shoemaking. As the w@nkstain revolution happened, more and more shut down. However, there's still a couple of places, but they're expensive. Crockett & Jones are the best. Make shoes for the Regal sh!ts, f'rinstance. A decent pair will cost you 600 - 1,000 Sterling.

I know C&Js are expensive Ngam; but would you say that they're better than Edward Greens or John Lobbs?
You 'into' shoes as well?
$hite, you don't know people in the industry do you? People who'll give your "beshteshth internet friend wot you've never seen and don't know anything about, aka furriner" a deep discount?
edit: Northampton, that's right a lot of the big boys are from there, IIRC.

One of my favourite things about going to watch Northants is all the nutters that are in the members section.
Haven't been to see them for a couple of years now, should really sort that out..
Edit: Yeah I know this isn't relevant but ****** you.

Define 'better'. They're high, high quality shoes, there aren't many companies, not even Green's, that do hand beading anymore. It's mainly machine worked.
But I'm not into shoes, no, you damned sicko.
I'll ask the future mother-in-law, she's worked there since time immemorial. There is no doubts a discount, she finds the whole idea of paying that much quite ostentatious. I'll have a chat to her on the weekend and let you know on Monday.
Re: Shoes/ Boots made in England...........
Cheers Ngam; ask her casually like. Given how expensive the damn things are, my cheap azz may not want to buy them even after discounts. Don't want you to ask for a favor and then have me back out. Heck, I'm just scoping out possibilities.

No worries, I'll broach the subject with all the sly tact of a rapist that the victim knows.
Shame, two weeks back I could've done you all deals on a range of Remington products.
If you haven't noticed, I've changed careers to be a Del-boy 'import/export' type of human being.

Yeah, that's for the standard shoes / boots really at Crockett & Jones; the likes of Elton John, Eric Clapton, Prince of Wales would go bigger than that.
I'd never bother, even if I had money to burn. How much better can they be?

Aye, they found some leather from the shipwreck of the Mary Rose which was ok to use because it was waxed, Crockett & Jones bought it and the starting price for shoes made from that leather started at £6,000. Nuts.
I'd rather buy a mid-level 2nd hand car and crash it, as an instance of something better to do with the money. Or pay two 'high class' prostitutes to beat each other up.

I don't know what that means, but then I haven't been hanging around here this last week.

A lot of it is $hite, but I have realized that - up to an extent - the quality and durability really is better.

Re: Shoes/ Boots made in England...........
it should be better at that price. but i cant believe it will be that much better. might sound mildly hypocritical but i can't help wonder how many students that could educate in developing countries
the raw material cost is probably 10% of its value anyways, maybe a lot less
wearing shoes fashioned from leather found on a ship-wreck that claimed hundreds of lives. classy stuff right there. maybe rivetted by teeth fillings of holocaust victims. now thats true luxury

That does seem crazy.
Watches are even crazier, £10k+ for watches is the norm among rich folk. The things I could do with 10k....
