2011 WC, 1st QF, Pak v WI, Dhaka, March 23, 2011
Well, we've entered the 'business end' of the World Cup, so time for each game to have its own thread?
Either Pakistan or the bookies should win this. Unlikely it will be both. The Windies need Gayle to fire, and Pollard needs to produce something of substance against a top team to get rid of the tag 'World's most overrated(paid) cricketer'..

I hope it is Pakistan. Pakistan seem to have the belief now and the balance to actually win three sudden death games.
Windies on the other hand have the potential to win one knock out game but not three in a row to win the World Cup. So you can pretty much pencil it in that the Windies will win tomorrow.

The Windies need to bring back Shiv. I know he hasn't made many runs of late, but he's such an experienced campaigner. Bring him back in, bat him at five. They can't afford to leave out a player of his class and experience at this stage of the World Cup.

Taking an all-up on the roughies (except NZ) in the quarters might be interesting and profitable. The problem, as always, is not having access to the state of the Pak player's mortgages.

If Fromage could get off his lazy French arse and Ricky this thread then skully wouldnt look like a dickhead asking when the next game is ....
...or he could combine it with the rest of the World Cup thread
...or he could continue to make skully look like a dickhead
Tough choice.

Not that India will win the QF and make the SFs, but for the sake of hope and hope alone, I hope Pak loses this match. Under the hope that Gods themselves may intervene to save India another Aus one day pasting, I don't think we will get past Pak this time and maintain our winning WC record against them [and I mean the real WC record and not those silly T20 games that pass for WC to some people here.]

I see the Indian police have been wrecking supporter's heads again, in Ahmedabad... why not I suppose, they didn't want to be the only ones that didn't.
As for the Pak/WI match, it's hard to call - they're both liable to f*ck things up. I don't think WI have been batting light, I just don't think the others have stood up to responsibility. However, I don't rate Benn, I think that Gayle can pick up the overs (if fit enough) and agree that Shivers should be in, that being the case.
All that being said, Pak're looking pretty strong at the minute - a good attack in these conditions.
So, that means a WI win.

Got to back the Paksters. Unless they're jacketing it, they've got the tools to beat the Windies - wickets threats in all phases of the opposition innings, a reasonable batting line-up.
Fielding could f*ck them. But then again the Windies are a bunch of butterbrained pratfalls out in the field too.
Pakistan, By a nose. Which is a more comfortable margin of victory that you'd think, because I meant Wasim Akram's nose.

Yeah, but for me it's how the Pakistan batsmen face up to the pace bowling (if it's concise) of Russell and Roach. Make early incisions and get past the old boys in the middle order and they're as soft as butter in Vanessa Feltz's cleavage.
Re: 2011 WC, 1st QF, Pak v WI, Dhaka, March 23, 2011
Sweet Jesus - buttery Vanessa Feltz at this time of day?
Don't know about you, but I can barely stomach a bowl of milky cereal first thing in the morning. All that cow juice sloshing around like rancid mucus... going down on her must be an ordeal.
You see what I did there? How bloody clever.

Aye, it brought a laugh and a cringe - you're the new Frankie Boyle.

I'm sure he's still popular enough with a certain audience. The easily impressed "I can't believe he said that - can you say that? I can't believe he did..." crowd.
They're also into I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Wankers. Look at the ingredients: Butter right at the start. "Why does it taste so buttery?" Because it's full of butter, you advertiser's wet dream.

Well, I must admit, he still makes me laugh, it's just with the Tramadol Nights I think he promoted a certain amount of derision as he's had to take his sickness to another level.
As for ICBINB, yeah either have butter or don't you qunts. It's just as bad, if not worse.
Re: 2011 WC, 1st QF, Pak v WI, Dhaka, March 23, 2011
Benn needs to be dropped for Chanderpaul. Bishoo is an awful lot better than him in these conditions. Another option is to have Darren Bravo keep wicket as Devon Thomas has been awful with the bat. Personally I think that would be a bit radical. So the team should be:
Gayle
Smith
Bravo
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Pollard
Thomas (wk)
Sammy (Non playing captain, floating hitter, insert s where appropriate)
Russell
Roach
Bishoo
That is a very talented lineup right there (ignoring Sammy obviously), it's just that they have forgotten how to win in tight situations. I think Shiv, Sarwan and Gayle have to stand up to allow the youngsters to play in an unhibited fashion. My guess is that Pakistan will win faily easily if they bat first. But if we win the toss for the first time in the tournament and bat first Pakistan could be in trouble.

Got to play Shiv in the crunch games. I quite fancy the WI if their batting can finally fire.

Aye, as I said, I'm not sure Pak have been challenged with the best possible bowling - they rely on some early bashing, the solid two crabbing in the middle and then their explosive players in the last 10 overs. Get them in early enough and they don't know what they're doing.

I do not understand why the Indian police are so keen on flogging Indian cricket fans? Are the fans of the wrong caste?

Yeah Wiffy WI have a dangerous team as (almost) always
Ideally Sammy should be dropped for Ravi or Benn since Pakistanis are poor players of SLA

Windies batting first.
Three changes for West Indies: Gayle, Chanderpaul and Roach come in for Edwards, Benn and Andre Russell
One change for Pakistan: Saeed Ajmal will come in for Rehman.
Russell is really unlucky
