Re: Australian Domestic Season 2024/25
I feel sick.
It has been announced that the new Queensland Bulls coach (Sheffield Shield & One Dayers) will be Johan Botha. Is he going to teach them all how to chuck? There have been few cricketers I dislike more than Botha.
The previous coach was Wade "Chuck" Seccombe & now we have Johan "Chucker" Botha!

Sexual misconduct, I assume?
Some Lankan cricketers seem to struggle to keep it in their pants.

it definitely sounds like inappropriate relations of some degree.
the other part was that he was trying to get his brother a coaching position. not sure if that tidbit is related to the misconduct, but really comes across worse if it is.

Not Shield but first domestic one day game today.
NSW v WA.
With international duties and injuries, there will be a few unfamiliar names.

Not Shield, but domestic 50/50. Another narrow loss to WA. Who is Bryce Jackson?

More ODD games to come:
Tas v QLD today
NSW v SA tomorrow
VIC v QLD Friday
then nothing for a couple of weeks
With WA losing both its opening games, albeit narrowly, it looks like it’s time for someone else to win.

The Shield itself isn’t too far away.
3 games starting on 8 October, then 3 on 20 October. Tassie plays Victoria and WA in this games.

Some play, no result … but QLD got two points, Tas (who didn’t get a bat) got none.
Slow over rates? What happened here? A clear no result game due to weather interfering, but one team gets points?

No idea ... thought there must have been slow over rates or something, some penalty on Tassie.

Now it’s as it should be, then.
Actually … crocinfo at least is still showing Tas on zero.

Another washout, NSW v SA.
Perhaps it was a mistake to have NSW sponsored by Sydney Water.

Vics scraped over the line vs Qld. Neser caught on the boundary attempting a 6 (after the previous 2 balls also went for 6s), which would have tied the scores with 1 ball remaining.

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2024/25
Shield games start in two days.
WA v QLD (WA angling for four titles in a row, which hasn't been done since the 50s)
Vic v TAS
NSW v SA
Top players out across the board, with injuries * and management #.
https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/sheffield-shield-preview-squads-2024-25-western-australia-chase-history-test-stars-to-play-early-rounds-1453430
Some of the players out of the first round:
* Morris, Green, Hardie, Paris, Ellis, Bartlett, S Johnson, Meredith, Matt Short.
# Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, Abbott, Dwarshuis, Tremain, Steve Smith.
SA look to be the big improvers.
