how long has racism existed taipan? are there any instances in modern south africa?

the caste system is probably a few thousand years old with no known origin and nowadays prevalent mostly in asia and africa

Whites only arrived in SA in the 1600's and in the regions where they settled there were no black tribes anyway.

india only became a nation state in 1947. and the caste system was deemed illegal from day one. the day south africa became a real democracy they abolished apartheid

the world had loads of social ills in all regions till pretty recently in human history. as long as nations are doing what they can to change these prevalent notions and they are moving in the right direction thats all we can ask for

So, you're blaming the Brits for the caste system being maintained? All you Indians deny that it's not in your nation's conciousness at all? I'm not talking about governmental legislation, I'm on about your average joe?

Still, I'm with taips on this one - his starting remark - we've all seen the evidence of large sections of Indians being racist and I feel it's pretty inherant. It's only been met with denial on here and counter-accusations.

what? what you on about? this has nothing to do with the brits. the modern indian nation made a decision to eradicate a serious societal ill. you must be pretty vacant up there if you think something that was deeply rooted for thousands of years will go away in a generation or two
