Good to see Fidel Edwards back. I wonder how many overs he'll last....
And oh my God. Is that Darrell f*cking Harper I see? How the hell does this guy still get top level umpiring gigs? He's been terrible for 10 years now. Honestly, EVERY test match, he makes at least one glaring error. The England players can't stand him.

According to cricinfo, played it on the up and gave a catch to Bishoo at backward point.

Thankfully this pitch doesn't seem to be a complete road.

Vijay played a firm footed, airy drive to a wide ball and spooned it up to point. I've seen him get out like that a few times. Doesn't always move his front foot far enough.

Dravid scratching around is a sad sight to see. Rampaul getting some good purchase and beating the edge on regular occasions. Edwards not getting much swing, lines a bit off, but his speed is top notch.
Bishoo will be doing a lot of bowling today.

So when will they finally tap Dravid on the shoulder and say "thanks, but..."
He's been below par for three years now.

None of the Indian batsmen looking comfortable. Did they even play a warm up game? When was the last time Laxman or Dravid played any meaningful cricket?

Well then it's perfectly clear why they always struggle in the first test of a series then. Amazing that they constantly shoot themselves in the foot like that.

Rampaul is bowling superbly. He's been aggressive, quick and accurate. Still think Roach should have played ahead of Sammy. India might have been 3 or 4 down had that been the case.

Roach AND Russell should have played. If Simmons can keep, bat him at six and give him the gloves, and pick-

I hear WI are due to tour India at some point in the near future.
Two/three spinners would be key then.

Gotta get Andre Russell in there. He's the real deal. Hits the ball miles, and bowls close to 90mph. Great athlete as well.

Russell in for Martin.
Bishoo and Shillingford both have test experience - Shilly bowled really well during the last tour of SL. They'd be my pick for WI's two frontline spinners. Benn as back-up if possible.

I don't know what the openers were thinking....seemed to come in with 'positive intent' and then kinda sorta never seemed in the game but never out of it either.
Meh. The 'good' news is that I've seen much worse open the Indian batting in the past.

This pitch is miles better than the majority of test pitches produced in the Caribbean in recent times. Good pace, good bounce, a bit of movement, and surprise surprise, the Windies are right in the game.
