I heard he's fast-medium. Nice. One would expect that Pak would have the better bowling line-up and SL to have the better batting line-up. I'm hoping it's on Eurosport. And nice to see you PP.
Re: Pakistan v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Abu Dhabi, 18-22 October, 2011
What's the bet it's a 600 plays 550 game.
And will the ICC pitch inspectors get all hot under the collar??????
Don't f*cking bet on it.

Aren't Eng scheduled to play at the same venue?
Cook will surely top 400 in an innings if this pitch is anything to go by.

And what a defensive captain Misbah is? Inviting SL to bat on a pitch as dead as dodo even when he has Ajmal in his side. And then bringing on Hafeez to bowl as early as 7th over of the test match?

Mahela is perilously close to join 10K runs club.
Easily gotta to be worst batsman of all the members of this club.

SL in all kinds of trouble. 112/4. Gorsh, they've dropped.
Re: Pakistan v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Abu Dhabi, 18-22 October, 2011
Even on this flattie, SL has lost half their side for just over 100.
No wonder, they've not won a test in their last 11 tries, over an year since they last won a test.
An absoluteloy horrible batting side.

Even though Dilshan was unlucky today, gotta say him being SL captain doesn't help their cause one bit. His cowardice of shifting to middle order didn't send a very good signal neither to his own team nor to the opposition.

115-7!!
And the pitch is apparently a belter. Oh dear Sri Lanka.
Mathews looks like being stranded with the tail again. I hope he hits out rather than playing for red ink.

Pak cricketers have absolutely no shame whatsoever. But Afridi has managed to put even the likes of Yusuf to shame.
What an attention seeker!!

Tbf, he had stated that rather than retiring, he was refusing to play under the Ijaz Butt led PCB. And let's be honest- Butt was a disgrace.

Re: Pakistan v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Abu Dhabi, 18-22 October, 2011
Not true.
KARACHI — Pakistan's Shahid Afridi told AFP on Monday he was retiring from all international cricket, saying he was dejected after being replaced as one-day captain following a fiery clash with coach Waqar Younis.
The 31-year-old experienced difficulties with Waqar during the team's 3-2 win against the West Indies earlier this month and his public criticism of the coach ultimately led to him losing the captaincy.
"Yes, I am now retired from all international cricket," Afridi said by telephone from London. "I am dejected and hurt and whatever I said about the coach it was in the best interest of the team."
Afridi, who took over as Test and one-day captain last year, abruptly retired from the longer version of the game after a heavy defeat against Australia at Lord's in July 2010.
He then led Pakistan to two one-day series defeats against England and South Africa before winning a 50-over series in New Zealand and guiding the team to the semi-finals of World Cup 2011 where they lost to eventual champions India.

Re: Pakistan v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Abu Dhabi, 18-22 October, 2011
He must have been saying a few things. I heard more like what Trev said:
Pakistan flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi, after weeks of growing tension, speculation and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt’s antics, has announced his retirement from international cricket. However, Afridi, a former ODI skipper, has said that it is a ‘conditional’ retirement and he is ready to withdraw his decision if and when a new board comes into power. “It is a protest the way I have been humiliated by the PCB,” an emotional and angry Afridi told a news channel from London on late Monday night. PCB chief Ijaz said on Tuesday that he had accepted Afridi’s decision to quit international cricket. “He is welcome if he does not want to play under the present (PCB) setup,” he said.
