Merv saves Lord Brexit from crocs!
Sure it’s all an exaggeration, but an entertaining story nonetheless…

Bottom line is once you cross the boundary all bets are off friendship wise. England has always given as good as it got. All power to them, particularly the likes of Beefy.
But off the field there are very few ongoing feuds. Beefy v old grandpa Ian Chappell is one of the few.
But in the main, these guys are all great mates off the field. Alan Border has said as much. He has said some of the best times touring England included rollicking BBQs at Beefy's place.
So we all should acknowledge that. On the field, all is fair game. Off it, we are all normal joes. I'm sure Beefy and Merv have always been good mates off the field.
It's why Test Cricket is so great. It draws out our maximum emotions, particularly between to big nations of the game.

Yeah, was thinking Crappelli would have left him as croc food!
What is it with English all-rounders and aquatic adventures, though? Stokes needs to steer clear of the water to avoid following suit…

Chappell would have sneaked up to push Botham in.

Besides Beefy and Freddie, Tony Greig nearly drowned as a toddler, causing his mother to develop a lifelong aversion to sea water; Fred Titmus lost three toes in a water-skiing accident; Andrew Symonds and Matt Hayden got a lot closer than they recommend to the business end of a shark; Stan McCabe aged in his late 50s fell into Sydney Harbour and drowned, there was some story I remember about Arthur Cunningham?, a 1904? Ashes tourist.(Andrew Stoddart Eng captain) pulling a drowning man out of Sydney Harbour, and those are just the ones I know about
