Re: Apparently four Indian players requested to be rested......
Why should they be? They took the fat pay cheques, didn't they? If they're too ghee-filled to smash it around for 20 balls / bowl four overs and chase the ball around a bit then what are they doing.
Re: Apparently four Indian players requested to be rested......
The IPL is a BCCI run tournament. Effectively it's the same as them playing for India. So them refusing to sign with an IPL team is a bit like them refusing to sign an Indian contract (from the BCCI's point of view) They can request a rest, but it's up to the BCCI to approve it. The difference in other Countries is that most Boards are smart enough (or unselfish enough) to see when a certain player needs a rest, and grant it to him.

Meh point was it's quite galling to think that some hit and giggle shite means they're 'overworked'. I haven't played the format, but relatively to them it's f*ck all when you think that 10 matches consists of 40 overs max for a bowler. Talk about having it made.
Re: Apparently four Indian players requested to be rested......
Perhaps. Although a lot of players say that it's quite exhausting. Intensity levels, etc. Not to mention all the travelling around India on a daily basis, often at about midnight after games have finished, on flights that are frequently delayed.

Yes, of course we would. But that doesn't mean we wouldn't get tired, and need a rest now and then in order to perform at the optimum level for our Countries.

Tell that to the likes of Jack Hobbs. They played FC six days a week.

Yes, and they also smoked pipes in the slips, and carried flasks onto the field in their pockets. They would finally announce their retirement from the first class game, plump and rosy cheeked, at the age of 50.
Not to say there wasn't some top quality cricket played back then, but a lot of it wasn't quite so intense. In fact, pretty much every game they cobbled together between Counties was given 'first class' status. And there was nothing like the emphasis on fitness back then as there is these days. Test cricket was competitive, but a lot of first class cricket was bog ordinary.
Fact- If Dale Steyn played first class cricket six days a week, he would be a medium paced dobber after a month. Two at most....

Whilst I reckon that Trevor's actually correct in terms of the travel thing, we all know that can be tiring, but they probably just walk on the plane and sit in business class. Intensity? I find that to be bollockus humongous. They're should be healthy human beings, what's fourty 30 metre shuttle runs (and maybe four overs bowling) in an hour and a half, maybe 40 mins batting.... once every three days??? Jesus f*cking Christ.
Re: Apparently four Indian players requested to be rested......
One of the Indian players was Sehwag, who was carrying an injury. A slight injury can be made worse in park cricket on a Saturday afternoon, let alone in a professional competition. It's disgraceful that the BCCI basically forced him to play the IPL with his injury, but then agreed to rest him from the Indian tour of the West Indies that followed, after the injury was made worse in the IPL.
Oh yeah, and then they rushed him back during the England tour, when he still wasn't 100% fit, and hadn't picked up a bat for 2 months. A pub team would manage an injured player better than India did with Sehwag.

Ah, yes, but you obviously forgot they're money-grubbing pieces of sh!t who care little, if anything, for the game of cricket, its history or its future. All they care about is their own personal clamour to become one of the oligarchs. No professionalism.
