Australia v New Zealand, t20, Perth, 11th Dec
Questions that mt be asked:
* t20 internationally, does it really matter?
* Does Australia fielding a team captained by the kid, and with several no-names, or borderline-international-calibre (at best) players devalue this match as a contest?
* How many Wozzies will part with their hard-earned to attend?
* Given that t20 is cricket for the ADD-generation, how many West Coast Eagles players willl be there, ritalin-in-hand?
and
* Is it clever scheduling by CricAus to put on a t20 after a comparitively long international cricket free period to 'convert' the true cricket fan?
And Dello, 'Rikki' this thread please...

Watched Channel Nine news & heard Heals mention that every time a boundary was scored they would dunk a wozzie. Is this true? Sounds like it would be an excellent promotion.

from WACA
‘All the Fun of the Fair' at SOLD-OUT KFC Int'l Twenty20
06/12/2007
Perth cricket fans have responded to the excitement surrounding next Tuesday's KFC International Twenty20 between Australia and New Zealand with the match officially declared a sell-out* today.
A capacity crowd of around 20,000 will flock to the WACA Ground to experience ‘All the Fun of the Fair'.
Fans will witness excitement on and off the ground with cricket's big-hitters playing amongst action-packed carnival activities happening throughout the night.
“The WACA is thrilled to have the opportunity to host a KFC International Twenty20, and the Western Australian public have shown their appreciation by snapping up all available tickets for the game,” WACA Chief Executive Officer Graeme Wood said.
“International Twenty20 cricket has been such a huge phenomenon and the people of Perth, having had a taste at interstate level in recent seasons with the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, are going to love seeing the best of the best battle it out on the WACA Ground.”
The specific fan highlights of the KFC International Twenty20 include:
Delivery of the match ball from 96FM's ‘Matt the Pommy Backpacker' as he shoots through the air on a flying fox.
Aerial acrobatics- traversing between the light towers performed by Urban Descent
Dunking machine on cue for boundaries or wickets
Roving entertainment including jugglers, fire twirlers, clowns and stilt-walkers
Seven piece brass band playing in the KFC Buckethead Bay
DJ RobKAY in the stand and on the ground spinning the hottest tracks for the entire match
Spectacular fireworks display post match
Player interviews and crowd interviews on the big screen
Patrons attending are being urged to arrive early and beat the peak hour rush. The match is scheduled to start at 6:05pm, and with traffic around the Perth CBD to be extremely busy as city workers begin to head home and parking severely limited, those coming to the cricket should allow themselves plenty of time to get to the WACA Ground. All gates, both public and Members, will open at 4:00pm.
Fans who aren't at the match can catch all the action on Channel 9, 3 mobile cricket TV, ABC Radio, 8826PR and 1116SEN with broadcast starting at 6pm in Perth and 8pm AEDST.
* Although the match is officially a sell-out, a limited number of restricted viewing seats may be released closer to match day.

Oh, and there might actually be some sort of sporting contest put on between all the above bullshit. Fark me, maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I go to watch a sports event, I go to watch the sport. Will anyone notice the actual match? The specific fan highlights of the KFC International Twenty20 include:

Considering it's rubbish cricket and the WACA isn't fully subscribed this summer, it'll be interesting to see how many are in the members...
