Australia v New Zealand, 2nd Test, Hobart, 9-13 December, 2011
No 2nd Test thread yet? Ferkin apathy has clearly set in.
Seems most likely that the NSP will give Watto, Bog and 2nd the extra Test to be fully fit for the Bannie series. Thus the winning XI from Brisvegas will be retained and the woeful Fuse is likely to get a chance to score his inevitable 2nd innings 75, after numerous failures.

From the SMH
(Ross) Taylor, asked directly if he wanted Hughes to stay at the top of Australia's batting order, replied: ''I would love him to be in the team.''

It has to be the most demeaning comment ever made by an opposition player.

Has there ever been a more universally agreed upon Aus player to flick than Fuse?
[lardy] "Not since Bruce Francis." [/lardy]
I guess Midge would be up there.

Re: Australia v New Zealand, 2nd Test, Hobart, 9-13 December, 2011
If ever proof was neede that cricket is minroty sport in NZ - the Wellington "Dominion Post" confirms it:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/6058354/Australian-test-aspirants-take-no-prisoners
Aussies test aspirants take no Gabba prisoners
MARK GEENTY IN BRISBANE Last updated 05:00 30/11/2011
It was akin to feeding time at the zoo. The Gabba cage contained three hungry fast bowlers, none with a test cap to their name, and the unlikely prey was Australia's skipper Michael Clarke and the man he succeeded, Ricky Ponting.
Rubberneckers crowded against the wire netting at one end in the 30 degrees Celsius morning heat; hordes of media strained forward in a roped off area, sensing blood. And James Pattinson, Ben Cutting and Mitchell Starc pawed at the ground and went for the kill at around 140kmh in a test fast bowling trial, Aussie style.
The first rehearsal had not gone so well. Against New Zealand on a batsman's dream surface across town, Pattinson took 4-127, Cutting 3-150 and Starc 4-133 for Australia A as Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder all hit big centuries.
Clarke was first to face the music. The skipper is one of five selectors and made it clear his young charges were bowling for two spots; the loser to carry the drinks against New Zealand in the first test starting tomorrow.
Once he had been accurately identified by some first-time watchers, Pattinson raced to the top of the class. He had already nearly beheaded debut test opener David Warner, then his first ball to Clarke fizzed past the outside edge. Another Pattinson scorcher induced a false stroke from the skipper as he half played and missed.
Amid a cast of seemingly hundreds, the other selectors, John Inverarity, new coach Mickey Arthur, Rod Marsh and Andy Bichel leaned in closer.
It was time for the big local lad, Cutting, to put his best foot forward. The star of the Sheffield Shield, he had snared 23 wickets at 14.65 so far this season and was near unplayable on The Gabba.
Desperate times it was, and he fired in a bouncer so short it passed over Clarke's helmet. Then Cutting appeared to trap his skipper lbw. A long mid-pitch chat followed.
Clarke ended a torrid session with a thick outside edge off Pattinson.
The younger brother of former England seamer Darren Clarke exited the nets seemingly fortunate to remain unmaimed.
Cutting then stepped it up to Ponting, the 36-year-old whose quotes boomed out from the morning papers, "I'll bat until I drop", to questions about retirement. He maybe had second thoughts as Cutting bounced the test great, nearly clanging his helmet, then induced a poke which could have been caught at gully.
Starc, the tallest of them all and a left-armer, loped in and bowled quick, but did not seem to make the impression of his rivals. The verdict? Pattinson on top, marginally ahead of Cutting.
Veteran Mike Hussey rated it "very fast", in the 140kmh bracket. It was the first time he had faced Cutting. "It certainly got the adrenaline running."

Nice tits you pair of reds
It's just missing a comma and had the full stop in the wrong spot

Most likely a mistake by the work experience editor

TBF everything apart from Rugby is a minority sport in NZ. Though league is popular in Wellington.

Did anyone hear the ABC interview Pommy Patto after the game?
He kept trying to get PP to slag off the poms ...FFS they are the number 1 team in the world and if PP wants another Test match that's who it will be for ...and yet the stoopid banjo kept asking the question
and calling the Pommy Cap a baggy blue (FFS)

Pommy Patto in fact handled himself really well ...seems a good bloke...really delighted about his kid brother's efforts....for a Pom he seemed to speak with a broad Oz accent
