But aside from those minor technicalities - how many of you shitmunchers have sort of but not really befriended a future Oscar winner?
but he's jaw droppingly attractive in a number of films and tv programmes.
It's something else we have in common. If you change a few of the words around.
Ball achingly unattractive in no films or tv programmes (but possibly Crimewatch, if they find those bodies I buried...)

The tenth family member of the "Bunch" who they don't really talk about...
Re: School mates who played sport for their Country
Not really a member of the family you'd talk about often.
It's Crimestoppers I'm thinking of. Do they have that in the southlands of England? Very scary music.

I don' t think so. Think we just get the nationwide Crimewatch. Perhaps because we're a more civilised people than the Yorkies, we don't need a region-specific crime show.
I wouldn't know - I'm always too busy killing people to watch television.
Re: School mates who played sport for their Country
This was while I was living in the TyneTees region actually. But I see from youtube that they had it in the west country too.
Is that why you're not forumming much, all the killing?

You've got to have a hobby.
Just seem to have had a lot of avenging to do this month. Calendar's pretty clear for January though, so I can put the chainsaw away for a while.
How's Canadia this time of year? Balmy, I'd guess?

Re: School mates who played sport for their Country
I knew I didn't like Hampshire for a reason other than Nic Pothas.
Assuming I remember correctly you're from down that way.
Balmy as a snowman's anus. Pretty, though.

Are snowmen's anuses pretty?
I suppose the prospect of white Chrimbo is fairly commonplace among the Canucks. Do they even bother to sing White Christmas?
Yes, I'm from Nic Pothas way, as it's known in these parts.

Well, they're white. And shiny.
Oh heck yes, it's all over the radiobox. Except it's pretty smug, all this 'I'm dreaming of...' knowing full well they're 82% likely to have one.
I bet you live in an area named after Hampshire cricketers.

Worse - I live in an area populated by Hampshire cricketers. I've seen David Gower, Robin Smith, even the Mark Nicholas sashaying through town on occasion. Also, erm, Barry Venison.
Re: School mates who played sport for their Country
I thought they were all based in foreign lands?
I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of Barry Venison, despite him being north eastern, having a brill name and a mullet.
Apparently he now lives in the states, in So Cal.

Oh no, not Barry! Don't tell me we've lost Barry! Why wasn't there an announcement in the paper or something?
Not Barry!
Yeah, The Judge has nicked off back to SA I think. And I assume Nicholarse is based in Aus six months of the year these days. Gower's still local. He's kept his roots. Not that he's really from around here.

Sounds like property prices will drop drastically without a geezer like him in the area.

I went to uni and had quite a number of classes with Emile Sherman who won the Best Picture Oscar for The Kings Speech.
He didn't really love his cricket to be honest.

Well Errol Flynn went to my school and yes, it was more than a decade or so before i did & he never won an Oscar but he did win a gold medal in bedroom olympics i believe.
Re: School mates who played sport for their Country
Flynn, living at Mclean Avenue Chatswood, Sydney in 1926, attended Sydney Church of England Grammar School (Shore School) where he was the classmate of future Australian Prime Minister, John Gorton. He was expelled for fighting and, allegedly, having sex with a school laundress.
Errol Flynn
That would make you about 86 then, BD? Was the laundress still there when you were? Sounds a bit of a goer.

Allan
"Errol Flynn was born in Hobart, Tasmania, where his father, Theodore Thomson Flynn, was a lecturer (1909) and later professor (1911) of biology at the University of Tasmania (UTAS). Flynn was born at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Battery Point. His mother was born Lily Mary Young, but dropped the first names Lily Mary shortly after she was married and changed her name to Marelle" etc etc.
Flynn senior is still revered in Tas Uni biology circles
Flynn LINK not surprisingly attended several Hobart schools

I did say it was a 'few' decades before i went there & no, it was'nt Shore School.
Re: School mates who played sport for their Country
I still like to know whether Gorton had a go with the laundress as well.
