The day the little champ went past 10,000
I've been to many days of cricket at the SCG over the years and there are many stand outs. But I think the biggest and longest ovations I have ever been involved in was the day AB made his 10,000th run in Tests. It was Day 2 of the 3rd Test at the SCG in the 92/93 series Aus v WI.
What a farkin champ.
That Test was also notable for the emergence of another legend of the game. BCL made his epic 277 in this game. Fortunately I didn't have to endure the pummelling live, instead opting to catch it on a grainy regional feed of Nein.

The only batsmen who really earned his 10,000 runs, nothing flat-track bullyish about AB, unlike Tendy, SRW and BCL . . .

What.a.day. Gyngell held back the Nein evening News for 40 minutes to wait for that fabulous last ball. Must've been THE MOST ELECTRIC atmosphere ever at the SCG.JGK wrote:BTW - I was there the day SRW went past 10000.

Are you referring to that king mediocre among mediocrities, moustache miserable nonentity Border? What a cnut that man. Ugly too, to boot.
Appropriate that he should be an Aussie cult figure.

THE MOST ELECTRIC doesn't do it justice.
In fact, it should have its own thread it was that incredible.
This one's for AB.
Cheers.
