Australia v Sri Lanka, 6th Tri-series ODI, Sydney, 17 February, 2012
Clarke out with a dodgy hammy. Rags reckon Drunky will step up to the skipper role, over VC Warner.

Shame. I hoped I was going to see Warner totally reinvent captaincy.

He would re-invent Brearleyism by being a batting captain who cant score a run... but has NFI

So...Ponting to captain and Wade to keep, Harris rested. All makes sense.

Agreed, Clutch.
Hopefully Drunky can eke out some runs but.

Yeah, hopefully he bats himself at #3 and scores a trademark brisk 160 odd. It will be interesting to see if his captaincy is less dire without Buchanan or Nielson in his ear.

Interesting that Hilfy was retained despite Lee returning. Maybe there is still some doubt.

heard KSnr on the radio decrying both the non selection of Haddin and the appointment of ponting as temp skipper....the ageing koala seems to blame Punter for his loss of the captaincy...as if his embarassing form was not the cause

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/sport/shane-watson-says-selectors-need-to-clarify-brad-haddins-status/story-e6frg7mf-1226271678896
Watson's now thrown his weight behind Haddin and has criticised the rotation policy on radio this afternoon.
Lawson was critical as well.
Amusing that Watson said he wouldn't put his hand up to be rested. His body has ensured that he's been permanently rested this summer.

indeed red...interesting the whiners are all current or ex NSW players
haddin should count himself to get another tour - if indeed he does
the worst thing about him playing for the dudders is that it keeps a very promising keeper in Nifty Neville out of the dudder team

In the end it won't matter what anyone but the NSP thinks. I tend to think they'll give Haddit, probably wrongly, a farewell tour to the Windies. Can't see him being anywhere near the top squad come the Ashes.

Well, that's 10 wickets Jimmy won't take then.

I think the point about Haddin's non-selection is that the NSP are saying he's being rested when in fact he has clearly been dropped. Watson et al are saying that Inverarity and Friends should be clearer on his status, which is fair enough in my opinion.

I think they have a point. The NSP is not being transparent but this also smacks of a powerful Haddin lobby.
You have to feel sorry for Wade when you have the members of the powerful NSW 'W' pro-Haddin lobby come out in quick succession to extol his virtues.

This is true but i don't think anyone is listening. Every man & his dog can see Haddit is past it. The thing i have liked most about Invers is that he is not swayed by blatant media bias & cronyism.

the spiv cronyism is a bit of a joke...wade could publicly say the position is his unless some other keeper is in better form...abolute kudos to Invers and the NSP for sticking fat against watto and ksnr...i think watto is motivated by long term concern about his own place in the Oz team...he needs to toughen up princess and produce some form before he is considered again

Ponting wins the toss and bats, Doherty has recovered and is in the XI.

The Sydney conditions tend to suit them most.
Chappelli was saying last night that the Haddin issue just comes back to form and it's time this governed things, not words one way or the other.
