The sinking of the Titanic in 1912 was foretold in an 1898 novel by Morgan Robertson called "Futility" in which an unsinkable British liner called the Titan went down after hitting an iceberg, resulting in the death of many of the passengers due to insufficient lifeboats.

The image of Santa Claus as a white-bearded old man in a red and white pimp outfit that has become "law" was rumoured to have been created by Coca-Cola.
Or was it?

Although he built his entire 'career' upon it, Aled Jones didn't actually sing the song "Walking in the Air" that featured in the film "The Snowman".
It was sung by Peter Auty.
Jones merely released a cover vesion of it as a single and cashed in on the film's success.

Marc Almond never had to have a pint of semen pumped out of his stomach in the emergency room.
It's just a myth which has been attached to all manner of pop-stars/personalities over the years.
Quite aside from the practicalities of ingesting such an amount - which would probably have taken around three-days solid of performing blow-jobs to extract - the amount probably exceeds the stomach capacity of most normal people and in any case, semen isn't toxic so the worst that would happen if you wolfed down too much is you'd feel a bit nauseous or throw up.
You wouldn't need your stomach pumped.
Good to know, eh?

Erm I'd never heard that myth about Almond. I'm glad it's not true though.

How about Marianne Faithfull and the mars bar?
Guest- Guest
Re: The 'Urban Myths and interesting tidbits...' Thread
From Marianne Faithful's autobiography:
Faithful claims to have first heard the story from Mick who claimed to have first heard it from a prisoner while he was incarcerated as a result of the police bust which set the whole 'legend' in motion.
The Mars Bar was a very effective piece of demonising. Way out there. It was so overdone, with such malicious twisting of the facts. Mick retrieving a Mars Bar from my vagina, indeed! It was far too jaded for any of us to have conceived of. It's a dirty old man's fantasy - some old fart who goes to a dominatrix every Thursday afternoon to get spanked. A cop's idea of what people do when they're on acid!
... Their story went like this: a group of dissolute rock stars lured an innocent girl to a remote cottage where, having plied her with drugs, they had their way with her, including various sex acts involving a Mars Bar.
Faithful claims to have first heard the story from Mick who claimed to have first heard it from a prisoner while he was incarcerated as a result of the police bust which set the whole 'legend' in motion.

Ricky Ponting was actually born androgynous and received numerous intensive testosterone treatments as a youngster in order for him to develop as a male. This is why he has abnormally hairy arms, which, in fact, he shaves every night before bed.
