Not sure about the local state applications, let's face it there's 50 of them, but US murder definitions are so numerous and convoluted as to be ripe for appeal.
So yeah whipping up the crowd would be a start. Probably the cop's union ain't too happy either.

We haven't seen the sentence yet.
Ultimately, whether the guy spends a lot of time in gaol is simply an issue of vengeance for the family and friends. Doesn't change the fact that it was a tragic accident. The guilty verdict won't serve much purpose for the rest of society other than maybe convincing the police departments to hire people who don't have a trigger finger.
Hopefully her family get millions in compensation though.

Finding a seppo without an itchy trigger finger. Hmmmm. As almost everyone in that country is armed I'm surprised some enterprising police union has never used the 2nd amendment as justification.

True enough, MrK. But at least the family was spared the horror of both losing their beloved Justine and seeing her gun-happy murderer get off scot-free.

Wow!! Tragic accident? Well that certainly was not proven. A rare conviction against the violent and corrupt Seppo Duttons.... maybe if the woman was a black kid and the copper a white banjo afficionado it would have been a different verdict.

Not saying that it wasn't a criminal act but I have little doubt that he turned up to the scene intending to shoot at the person who made the original call,

I think you need that comma at the end somewhere else to clear up your point.

Hence the 3rd degree murder conviction. He wanted to harm but did not have the premeditated intention of killing.

Is that what you meant . Don't mean to be perantic but it's this sort of slack grammar that nearly saw DOCS turn up looking to take your alco kids.JGK wrote:JGK wrote:Not saying that it wasn't a criminal act but I doubt he turned up to the scene intending to shoot at the person who made the original ca

Haven't you just taken away two negatives?

Yeah but I cleared it up. Wanted to do something about the negatives in the first sentence too, but couldn't be arsed. Anyway I figured you were aiming for an either/ so as not to mitigate the meaning in your second sentence. A little bit of Humpy, a little bit of Horace.

Not photoshopped, pinched straight from Google images. It's an expectorant or "cough mixture", commonly available in some countries even without a prescription, and yes it does contain the Ventolin-like compound Bricanyl (terbutaline). So this is a kid who's bought a cough mixture not expecting it could possibly contain a banned substance.

We could do away with all this dog/homework excuses by biting the bullet and making it an offence of strict, fark it go the whole hog, or absolute liability. Still a little bit too fuzzy to remember continental attitudes.

No comment, other than to repeat the extract:

Thailand's Tourism Minister will be chuffed
"Unmarried tourists who have sex in Indonesia could face jail time, under laws being considered by the Indonesian Parliament. "

Crikey, throngs of horny Aussies will divert from Bali to Phuket instead.
