The next fast bowling great- James Pattinson?
Of all the bowlers who have made their debut in the last 15 years there has only been ONE pace bowling great( Dale Steyn).
Among the young bowlers these days Pattinson is on top of the tree. Philander has had a great start but he may not be great on flat pitches.
...obviously M Amir can make a come back at the age of 23 and may still go down as one of the best ever!

Re: The next fast bowling great- James Pattinson?
Aye, he makes it easy to dislike him.
Got some talent though, that lad. Bags of it.
Could be a proper handful in Angleterre, come Juillet.
I'm not that worried though. As mentioned - he's Aussie. Bound to break down before too long. Six Tests up to early Jan? Enough time for him to have two breakdowns, have his mum telling the world he's a nice boy, have his missus have some sort of naked pictures taken by some random schlob that I don't know and have his mum telling the world his GF's a bitch.

Nah he's not. The guy that got injured last season who allowed Pattinson a chance to start in a Test match, he's going to be the next great....or the next in line at the Shane Watson Long-Term Qard...

Haven't watched much of Pattinson but Cummins was impressive when Aus came to SA.

Mind, he could fix any dodgy tiles. Not the worst pick to have during the droughts.Dello wrote:He looks the goods.

I don't know if it's a drinking game yet, but if you took a shot every time Glenn McGrath started a sentence during commentary with "we" before correcting himself to "Australia", you'd be dead now.

Re: The next fast bowling great- James Pattinson?
hehehe at the above pomgolian and spiv diatribes...heard Pommy Patto talk a few times inc about his callup by the col blimp gin addicts
.. a humble and funny bloke...said he had to introduce himself to a number of team mates in that test side...he said in a matter of fact way that some barely acknowledged him...from memory he got one or two wickets in an effort that was not the best nor the worst in history..he is an honest trundler who performs yeoman like for Vic mainly in ODD matches
despite the age difference he and OP are close mates...PP much prefers to talk about his little brother...the point hardly needs making about the tossers such as bollybogan the spiv panel keep selecting

watching the GCS fail again...been a bit under the weather...must say I enjoyed what I saw of the Test...some gr8 knocks...esp teddy cowan...some topnotch fielding from both teams...
I was wondering if was true that Les Burdett was advising Mitchell on how to curate a pitch...erm...road
