Richard Johnson......not THE Richard Johnson that terrorised Zimbabwe in 2003?

Yep, with the exception of Cook and Tremlett they're a bunch of underachievers/wankstains.
Word on the 'street' is that Chopra only just missed out to Root for a spot in the squad to India.
Of course, when he was at Essex, Lever thought he was sh*t.

He was shit at Essex.
High quality for the Eng U19s, couldn't make the transition to senior cricket, joined Warwicks, got his groove back.

Also scored stacks of runs in Sri Lankan domestic cricket a couple of years ago. I don't know the standard of the domestic cricket there, but you can assume there would be some decent spinners. Must have almost swayed it in his favour when they were discussing the squad to India.
He's never quite had a huge season that makes him too hard to ignore in the way that Compton did. Always seems to end the season with an average around 45, which is ok but not spectacular.

And some (Blewett, Slater, Khawaja, Clarke to name a few) could hardly buy a run in County Cricket.

All depends on the attitude they have. Slater, Blewett, and Clarke were already playing for Australia. They saw County Cricket as a bit of a paid holiday with some cricket thrown in. Guys like Hussey and Katich saw County Cricket as a great chance to press their claims for national selection.
