Is the coveted baggy green being cheapened?
Several erstwhile players are making noises to this effect and further with Aussie caps being given out left, right and centre to a whole host of players is the idea of representing Australia at cricket being slightly devalued?
Even the general public are making jokes about wanting to walk past Invers on the off chance that he will spot them and throw a cap in their direction.

Pastings did not deserve a gig and doubted whether Quiney would make it but at least he was prepared to face the music up the order. Selectors have admitted he was the sacrificial lamb to ease the path of Hughes back into test cricket.

Remember when Steve Smith was picked as a specialist top order batsman during the Ashes?
Good times.
Good times.

Exactly what I was going to say. It's no surprise that we've dished out over 660 caps
Re: Is the coveted baggy green being cheapened?
Red, a player isn't given a baggy green cap for playing ODI cricket.
The Aussie ODI cap is being cheapened. but ODIs are cheap, and no one really gives a f*ck.

Any time "test cricket" and "India" are used in the same sentence.

Umm... I do realise this and thought I'd made it clear in the topic. Heading about bgs and then.

While many don't give a rats about limited overs cricket, there was a time when it meant something to be picked to represent oz. Now it's not just NSWelshmen getting the obligatory green or yellow one with their blue one but it will get to the point where one is hard pressed not to name someone in the system who hasn't worn an Aussie cap of some colour.
